the twist and pry method buggers up the block. I did it once and left some scoring. second time I paid the $75 to have my machine shop drill tap and slide hammer them out correctly. Next time (if there is one) I will spend 75 on a slide hammer, drill, tap, and hardy bolt to pull them my self... Maybe...
No, I drilled and tapped the block itself. Oil squirter delete. Just going to be putting some bolts in there. I know the negative effects of doing this. I don't run high rpms very often, and generally drive pretty gently. They're just a headache to deal with. And expensive too.
Finished the top half of the manifold. I'm not doing the bottom half. I just don't have enough time. I've seen people run them like this before though.
Picked up a td04l subaru turbo for very cheap off craigslist. No shaft play or damage of any kind. Im so happy to find a good one for so cheap.
Used perrin manual boost controller showed up. Looks good.
And I got a set of 4 msp racing Harts for free off craigslist. Granted, they're not in the greatest shape, but there is one good center cap, and three solid wheels. These will be great spares.
Took apart the turbo. I hate snap rings. And the turbine housing was rusted to the center section. Other than that, everything went smooth. The turbo is in great shape. There is one snapped stud in the exhaust housing though.
