Just an electronic fluke, I hope!

I had an odd experience today and I hope it was just a one-time thing...

I took my 2012 CX-9 GT to the car wash today. I pre-washed the front end (bugs) and the wheels/tires and inside the wheel wells in a do-it-yourself stall. Then I went through the automatic, brushless/touchless car wash. It took about 8-10 minutes, then I was headed to the grocery store about 10 minutes away.

When I parked at the store and got out, the request button on the drivers door would NOT lock the doors. Instead it gave me a series a three beeps. I tried a few times, no luck. Then I tried to use the button on the remote fob, just three beeps again.

I got back in, restarted the engine, turned it off, got out and tried again....beep, beep, beep but no locking!

I opened and closed all four doors and the liftgate, no dice! Finally, after two more times restarting and turning off the engine, it finally locked when I pressed the button...

Just a fluke, I hope! I wonder if the car wash had anything to do with it or it was just a coincidence???

I think the water from your washing caused bad contact of the door sensor.
When the locking system detects that not all doors/hatch are closed, it beeps three times.
Once water is gone, then, it works. All the engine starting is probably unrelated.

The two other times I've washed it at the same car wash, I drove for at least 30 minutes before I stopped. Actually, both times I drove all the way home and parked in the garage, where I don't lock it. Perhaps the water pressure at that car was is a bit much?

I wouldn't mind hand washing it, but even at 6'2" I can't reach far beyond the side rails of the roof rack. I'm a little surprised at how quickly it gets dirty, much more so than any white car I've had before. Then again, it's the first 'Pearl White' and easily the best looking of them all, too.

Wouldn't you get a chime that the door isn't closed while driving away from the car wash?

Was someone with you? Is it possible the other key was in the car?

All doors were fully closed leaving the car wash and each time I tried and failed to lock a few minutes later.

But my best guess is that something in the locking/latching mechanism got wet and caused the locking mechanism to think something wasn't fully closed and ready to be locked???
