jdm FS 2.0L engine (168 HP)

that makes. sense. 130/140whp would be very nice. but with a header/exhaust, cams/pulleys and stock MP3 stuff i doubt ill hit that. maybe just over 120wheel?

i have 60/70 duro motor mounts and a mazdaspeed spec clutch. any other ideas on how to stop losing hp to the wheels?

ill stop the offtopic-ness. back to the JDM engine stuff

well that sounds very reasonable. if you want to make your power more effective try a lighter flywheels. less rotational mass = better use of your power.

i was thinking that. but taking off a tranny in a garage is a pain in the ass. already done that once. if that comes off may as well get an LSD for the tranny too. this all takes money that i need to somehow get. but is all planned for the future.

boost first

definitly. this work in planned for this summer. boost is next summer. this car also has to be driven daily to school.

just saving up for the head work now. cleaned/planed,headgasket, head bolts, valve seals, timing belt/tensionner , water pump, LW pulley set, underdrive crank pulley, JDM cams and i think thats about it. ill make it all back in the horrible gas mileage ive been getting

250km to a tank isnt bad right?

and also i had thought about cam gears before. worth it to tune in the cams or not?

thats 200 miles then? 100miles is 160km or something like that.

$88 for a pair isnt bad at all. any feedback from usage? and shipping may kill me for that. is there really any gains to get from gears other than just tuning the car?

im not sure. it depends on your application. but those things are the best deal. on SR motor sports its 389 for both. they caim 8-15 hp increase

Cam gears are for moving your power band around. Although where and how much power you make will depend on adjusting your cam gears and what type of cams you have (i.e. durations, profiles).

If you are not running any engine management, I would not recommend cam gears as you really need to be able to tune your AFR's to get benefit from adjusting them.

ok thanks that's just a better explanation for my reasoning. I'll just stick with the jdm cams and LW pulleys for power upgrades for now.

i have the mp3 ecu with advanced timing.... and i am just doing it to up the compression. culridr doesnt have a j spec ecu
I also have a LOT more mods then you do, and have done a lot more work to the engine then you plan on doing. If you have my read my thread (which I'm guessing you have) then you already know this.
I'm running a very light tune with a piggyback, but trust me the tune sucks. I need something bigger/better but a lack of a job is killing that idea until I can find something better. My car will be stupid fast (for an NA Protege) when it's properly tuned, but right now it's just a lot faster because the AFRs and timing are off at times. She hauls when she runs right, but backfires like a subie when she doesn't. A real shame really considering the potential my build has...

how do you get it tuned. and i plan on doing about the same as you. you were sort of my inspiration. im just starting with pistons and cams. then header and pullys etc etc

no i mean i am in my computer lab and we block message boards and anything that shows opinion... so i had to find a way around this. what is the name of the thread?
