Well, "Oriental" is derived from "Orient", the label that first explorers of the western civilizations stuck on the eastern empires (namely China) that they came across. It eventually came to encompass an entire hemisphere ...
So ... just like there are a myriad of religions in America, there are hundreds of other cultures/ethnicities in Asia. So it would be just as large of a misnomer to lump all asians as "Orientals" as to call all Americans "Jewish" (I chose that religion by random ... It could have easily been Catholics, but hell ... Jewish is shorter, and I'm lazy. But I ended up typing "Catholics" anyway ... twice! Bastards!)
Don't mind me ... I'm in the mood to post *****. Muahah. (laugh) I want to get to 1000 already.
You missed the fundamenatal peice that that in English oriental means that area of the world basicly all of south east asia, nothing more or less. So what if a guy came to china first. Doubt he would have stumbled over to Japan and miss china.
Does the word Oriental really piss you off becuase Original a 1000 years ago some used the term to dexribe the area of and around china? Do you hate the chinese that much?
