Its a sad day in my p5s world.

I think you have to realize that its really not a death, but more of a changing of the guard for your P5. Maybe someone will come along and continue the legacy that you started with it. They can "grow up" in it as well, and learn from that car. Congrats on the new purchase, you have my exact car. I'm jealous.
Well if i get stuck not being able to make the payments ill sell it off to you LOL. Thanks for the encouragement guys and Gals. If only nursing school was this supportive and easy, then life would be totally good.

Congrats on the MS3, but $4900 for the P5 on trade in sounds horrible.
depreciation value for the ho-hum non-mazdaspeed mazda's is poor at best.

lol thanks, but I'm waiting to sell my car before I get one. After seeing one and driving it in person I'm thoroughly convinced this is what I want. Enjoy!

The P5s tend to have much better trade-in value than the mazdaspeed Protege. The P5 is in high demand in the used car market.. people still don't even know what the Mazdaspeed Protege is :P

Note to self: keep p5 forever. I was offered 11k tradein this past summer with ~70k miles at the time. I guess they were on crack?

According to KBB...in his zipcode, the car with avg miles and no auto-tran, abs, side airbags selected, value should be anywhere from 7.5K to 9K. I don't think it's too uncommon to get at or above 10k with a low mileage example.

JAVANC - I wonder if you could have sold it privately for more dough since the values above are trade-in, which are much lower than private sale. I just thought you got screwed, but as long as your happy with what you got for it it is all good. The MS3 is a nice car!

obvisouly you've never tried to trade in a mazda with more than 70K (ughdance)

*raises hand* I was offered 11k tradein on my (obviously modded) P5 when it had 70k miles on it.

stock mazda. JDM sam was only offered 4.5K on his 90K 01, and I was only offered 3K on my 70K 00...

... are you serious? Being modded LOWERED the value. They wanted me to put it back to stock before trading it in, except they said they would take it with the wheel/tire package... but wanted everything else gone before they would even consider letting me trade it in.

But yeah.. a 00 ES isn't in high demand at all. People in the market for that can just get a civic or corolla.. not so with the Protege5. The sportiness, styling, functionality, etc.

What you are offered and what the car is worth are two different things. The fact is that the P5's hold their value well - can't speak for the sedans with the 1.8L. Check out KBB, Edmunds etc and you'll see i know what I'm talking about.

That being said, try to not guess what I've done and not done - kinda foolish. This is actually my second Mazda. My 94 Protege with 130k still brought $2500 to my account when it was traded-in 03 :)

Yeah i got jipped a little, but it was modded enough for them to ask if i still had the stock parts. The trade guy told me he would probly keep the car for himself. Its over and done with, i cant cry over my spilled milk. Im having too much fun with the MS3 right now, you know that new car high. Oh yeah i forgot to add the car was pretty beat up, KBB trade in for it in this area was 6200, it had 77000 miles on it.

I gotta disagree.

I bought my car in may for $16,375 and just 2 months ago Herzog mazda offered 14.5k trade, and tonkin mazda offered to top that.

OK back from the thread jack, you are very lucky to have Picked up a MS3 this soon without calling "Dibs" and putting a downpayment 3 months ago

Actually i put my deposit down back in early Sept. 500 bucks, it was ordered just for me. I shoulda gotten the in dash 6 disc with MP3 ability, but hindsight is 20/20. My car was built on Oct12, shipped from Japan on the
17th, in port in LA on the 31st and into my dealer on Nov. 10. I was hoping for a late Dec. delivery so i could save up more cash, gotta find work to make the money, but hey it came in early so now i got it and now im into the bigger payments. Yippeeee.

I don't know how it is down there, but here in SE Michigan, there are at least 5 MS3s that are just sitting on the lot. 2 of which are within 2 miles of my house, they've been there for 3 weeks without budging.
