UPDATED PICS OF MOTOR ON PAGE 9 as of 11/5/07

Well guys and gals. Iv'e only had my car boosted for about a whole 3 months. And low and behold it blew. I cant blame it on the car though. It was my fault. I was at full load in 5th gear, overboosting (10 1/2). And no more than 2 seconds into 5th "Bam". She went. I was with sandspeed when it happend and he helped me out alot along with other few good friends. Thanks Bro. You are a true friend and I couldn't thank you anymore.

So, we jacked up the car waiting for the tow truck, and theres about 5-6 wholes in my block ranging from the size of a quarter to about a apple. Oil everywere, pieces of my block clanging around and they also hit sandspeeds car behind me. I tell you what, It hasn't really hit me yet full force. Im in shock right now that it happened. Many, many pics coming of the now swiss cheeze block that Im left with.

sucks dude... rebuild and come back stronger...

good luck

Bummer man :(

I suppose when we do these things, we realize the inherent risks. It still sucks though. Hopefully you can afford to at least rebuild, and even better, stronger.

wow sorry to hear about it, good luck with everything! now you can rebuild your engine and handle more boost than before!

What do you mean by "full load" in 5th. WOT? How fast were you going? Where you using the stock MSP exhaust mani and turbo, or something bigger? I'm in the middle of boosting my p5, hence all the questions. This thread makes me scared...

do you know what your A:F was at the time? I know of a couple people running 10psi with the mpi and extra injector setup on stock internals.

sorry to hear man

How do you know that the overboost is what blew your motor? I know many guys running 10psi on a stock motor with no issues and a good tune.

it was possibly boosting in 5th that caused it.... sorry joe if theres any way i can help you out give me a call...... peace man

why is bad to boost in 5th gear with this car i dont get it i mean what if someone with a msp stock was at WOT in 5th would the engine blow also or no

5th gear is bad to boost in WOT b/c of the load. think of a bicycle. on a smaller gear, you have to pedal extra hard to get going. there is alot of stress when you're pedaling this hard. same with your engine/tranny. there is a lot of load/stress in 5th gear. 1st gear has the least load/stress, that's why it's so easy to get to redline. i have an MSP with Unichip and I hardly ever WOT in 5th gear. 1st to 4th gear WOT, no problem. but 5th gear, i'm not really a fan of doing WOT and full boost. partial boost in 5th is fine, usually used for passing without downshifting to 4th.

i used to boost in 5th gear all day long, WOT, on a stock motor and not a thing happened. with an FMU no less.

jomo, let me know whatever i can help you with.
