Is Mazda pulling a fast one on MSP owners?

I have 10.500 miles left on my warranty,
and i am hoping that if its meant to go, It will go soon.
and i will fight till the end of time to make sure i get an lsd.

Open diff? are you crazy, this thang ALREADY has so much torque steer its crazy, to hell with that.

they OBVIOUSLY see a problem with the LSD before,
Own up and Recall this part. this is rediculous, I am an avid Mazda enthusiast, but if they'r pulling cheap shots then im back to Honda/Toyota

I thought there was a llaw that the deal must supply equivalent or better parts atleast 10 years after a model is sold?
If so then this be illegal.

does anyone know where to find more info on this possible law??

they could probably justify that the open diff is better because it doesn't break. either way, this sounds shady.

heh...even more reason to get a quiafe now. im somewhat dissapointed with mazda now, but ohh well, honda is the devil and toyota and nissan just dont do it for me like mazda does. time to buy another rx7.

That's just gay. How can you go to an open diff after the LSD? They need to get their act together and make some more LSD's.

That is gay. Guess its time to either try to find one of the last ones around or save for a quaife, in case mine goes.

just got off the phone with mazda - they superceded the old part number GS01-27-190A (LSD) to GSY1-27-190 (standard), meaning they are trying to phase out replacing the LSD with open differentials. reason being that they no longer want pay the added cost of replacing the LSD :( the inventory system is such that we have to manually check the shelves at the warehouse for the correct part if one is there, then
pull it. typing the old part number in the inventory system merely changes it to the new number. on top of this, mazda has no intention of reimbursing me now that the shop had the carrier welded.

i will be getting a call in thirty minutes with a solution.

Isn't the standard diff part number: G560-27-190A ? If the numbers were superceded to standars diff, then they should have the same part number. Also, has anyone actually verified that this part number is really not an LSD? Let's not try to start rumors until everything is proven 100%

right now it is verified by Tallrd's shop, i spoke with the tech and he is 100% certain it is not an LSD, specifically he said it was a standard protege differential. Dealer Assistance Group is going to be giving me the truth on the supercession and what it really means for the LSD. The dealers in my area don't even have a bulletin on the supercession and cannot find one on dealer connect. one thing is certain, there are 4 'true' LSDs in the states, 3 in canada and more than 50 of this new number and they specifically assign it to the 2003 model year. If they have this many available it leads me to believe that regardless of what it may or may not be, mazda plans on using up alot of them. and it does not ultimately have to share the same part number if mazda is simply renumbering them to accept a different pricing structure (my experience with things like brakes, gears and calipers is that they do this to get a better margin).

This blows... Now I may really start thinking of sellin the MSP. It might just be Evo time for me

I just sent an email to my connection at a Mazda dealer and he is going to check it out. I will let you know. I just got my diff replaced about a month ago. Damn I'm glad I didn't get an open diff. Those things sucked. I hated it on my '02 ES protege I had..

I second that with all of my soul. Mazda can go down in flames for all I care at this point.

This is total crap...I have over 60k on mine. It's going to go sometime soon now...I don't want crap parts for replacement!

looks like it might be worth your time/money to take your lsd out right now and weld it.
