Interest in dyno day March 13th

9:00am would be nice. That way we can get the paper work done early and get the cars organized. Some of you big horsepower guys might want to run in the morning while us with the MSP's would probaly benefit from it being a little warmer later on. I know I will hit fuel cut for sure if I run early in the morning at 12psi.

holy crap dude 9am?? I dont even get home from work til about 1am, usually asleep by 3....

how late will this be going or what is the latest I can show up??

I would get there no later than noon. I hope everyone doesn't try to do this though. I won't be waiting around all day wasting Keinana time waiting for people to show up.

Man I hated fuel cut so much. You should get an FCD.

Maybe I can hop on the dyno when there's a big gap between the next person that's supposed to dyno so I can do a lil tuning. (spin)

I'll get there early so I can dyno right away.

you don't have to worry about me.. I need to run as early as possible. Mostly so the oil is still hot. Cold oil+100octane and 20+PSI+coolant contamination would be very bad..

how late are they actually open tommorow? like what time will the last car be going up? I'm gonna be there before 12 but trying to get an idea how long I'll be there.

takes about 30-45minuites per car, start @ 9ish, at least a dozen are going to be on the dyno.

...... we averaged 11 mins last week with RWD cars (harder to strap down than FWD cars) per car. On the dyno, strapped down, 3 pulls, off the dyno.

We did 25 cars last week and were done by 3.

Please dont be late, and delay getting there (I run a bar and dont get home till 4am and ill still go home and grab some sleep and be there tom bright and early)

Last week in the morning we were kind of twiddling our thumbs because we got ahead and people were doing the fashionably late thing.

We will probally be done with the cars by noon.

So havnt read much s*** talking, whos gonna put the highest number down tommorow?

it'll probaly go like this:
EVO VIII
E85 Subi
I'll get 2 pulls in, and then blow a headgasket/turbo and ruin my 3rd place finish. Unless there are forged internal/upgraded turbo MS3's in there. Or I get lucky.

mostly it's just a social thing. the dyno is just something to bring people together.

Is there another Evo running? I'll be running my Evo on e85, not my Dad's STi.

I'll be happy with anything over 375. According to this dyno simulator a guy on Evom made, I'm making like 410-420 on a dynojet but I highly doubt that.

I'll have to do some logging on my way down. I'm sure since it's warmer now than it was a couple weeks ago I can turn the boost up a little bit. When it was in the 20's I was hitting 108% IDC at 24 psi. I really wish I had the injectors to run ~30 psi.

my mind's playing tricks with me, I coulda sword there was another STi, but It looks like I was wrong.(eekdance)

and shame on your tiny injectors! 108% '>_> eww

so far so good, just left the dyno :) My '07 speed 3 with MSCAI and Accessport made 258 whp and 256 tq. I'm running the installed stock 1.05 map but with air/fuel leaned out to run mid-high 11:1 for most of the rev range. More or less a baseline as otherwise tune is 100% stock. I will start raising boost a bit at a time and see where the tolerance is, then redyno.

What gets me is that torque is roughly same as hp. Last time I dynoed with just intake, I put down 250/282.... almost 30 more ftlbs. That was with the original stock tune, pre-fuel-pump-and-flash TSB. The map I'm running now is based on the most recent stock map. Did Mazda tune out the huge torque down low to save engines? there was a stock 2010 MS3 there who's hp and torque numbers were also equal... (I'll leave the numbers for him to post :) )

At least we can see that just leaning out fuel on the stock tune picked up almost 10hp....

unless run back to back on the same dyno different sessions can vary greatly, depending on how the car is running at the time, air temperature, humidity and a couple more things.

I made 278/334 on 93 and running on 100 resulted in 290/315. Humidity, failing EGT's (car was dumping fuel in there 11.x AFR ftw!) and the fact that I was running an O.E. air filter instead of my K&N contributed to the results being less than what they probably would have been had I run them under the same conditions.

thats why I'm so glad there was a stock MS3 there today for comparison.... still gives me a good idea of how my car is doing. Still.... 30 less ftlbs seems like more than dyno-to-dyn variation between 2 dynojets...

either way, 258 whp for an intake and 95% stock tune aint too shabby imo, and Keinan let the Aceessport log the entire thing so I can see exactly what it's doing and start turning it back up.

I've attached a pic of my sheet and the corresponding data log. Peak power was at just under 14 psi of boost at 5600 rpm... Leaving me some room for improvement for sure :)

There's a big problem, two different to dyno's. You can setup a dyno to spit out very different numbers, even if they're the same type. I'm not saying it's going to equate to a 30ft/lb decrease, but it *is* going to be different.

btw... I *know* someone has pics, put them up or face the consequences!

Thank you sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar.

I am very pleased my my 230whp and 232wtq both peaking at about 5300 rpm. Very impressive for completely stock. I want to run a couple S2Ks now and see whats up. LOL.

For everyone else, I had a blast meeting you and I look forward to more meets. Maybe I can set up a Red Robin meet next weekend.
