Intakes, Intakes, Intakes

I'm looking for some intake advice. My P5 is pretty much stock; I have the loud as hell Mazdaspeed muffler and a slightly modified stock airbox with a panel K&N air filter. Aside from that, no other mods.

If intakes like AEM or Injen actually make a difference, I want to put one on my car. Which one should i go with? I've seen short versions, race versions, etc. What's the difference? I want the one that will give me the greatest benefit.

-Peace-

I have an Injen CAI in my ES and i think it helps throttle response, and gives me a little more high end power, past 3500 RPM's. My 2 cents since i haven't tried any of the others. Its hard to compare CAI and short ram intakes like AEM makes.

Search, search, search. :D It has been cover at least 1 trillion times before. :D

Yup search before you ask, and don't tell us you have searched and nothing came up. :D
we have tons of posts about intakes
btw, go for injen CAI is iif t meets your budget (200~230)if not just go to ebay and get custom short ram intake( They are not really good but better than stock )

I have searched and found tons. I have not found a heads up comparison of the different types of intakes. This is the question I am asking. I would think CAI is better (colder air outside the engine compartment), but some posts I've read say AEM doesn't have a CAI because the gain is quite minimal. I just want the best gain for the money. CAI's are more $, but are they really worth it?

Just a heads-up: This very thing comes up at least 3 times a week and there is never a straight concensus on what the right thing to do is. You'll find people saying the CAI is the best and you'll find people saying the SRI is the best and you'll find people who say just slap on a K&N filter. I personally say that I like my blue Injen CAI a lot and recommend it to anyone who's looking into it. Adventon.com has them for just under $200 plus shipping.

Patrick (was once a newbie too)

both AEM SRI and Injen CAI have good and bad
when It comes to just comparing 2 intakes then I think there will be no differences except for the looks
but if intakes combine with other mods(cat back..etc) then you will see the differences
But I believe CAI gain little more HP than SRI.
since many ppl value different things, it's ur call if CAI is worth spending money for or not.
good luck

the way i understand things..

cold air is the best way to go, just don't be dumb and drive over huge puddle

short rams might give u a slight power loss from stock.. as you drive longer the engine tends to get hotter, bringing it into the intake.. there is an intake that has a heat sheild, but after a while u might see heat soak build up

max performance gains you can get from any intake alone is probably around 4 hp.. no biggie.. and that''s over 3500 rpm
