Intake Manifold Modifications.....

hhhhhmmmm.....dammit, you guys suck. As soon as I get myself intrested in the scamp you guys suck me into the Mazda again.

I'm wondering what type of signal that rpm switch uses to see what rpm the engine is at. If I remember correctly everybody had trouble using MSD on Mazdas for that reason (could be mistaken). Also I'm wondering what affect, if any, this would have on power output.

The only issue I know of with our mazda and MSD is when it comes to ignition seeing that we have a positive trigger.

No one seems to care that the VICS operates almost exactly at the 5252 crossing point of the horsepower and torque bands? =) I mean, it might be nothing important, but I just thought it was weird. I suppose if someone plays around with it, we'll find out the net results, for sure. =)

If it doesn't change at exactly 5252rpm, the world will stop, and fall off its axis. All the proteges of the world will weep one quart of washer fluid. Or someone will shift their powerband, maybe for the good, maybe for the bad.

*laughs* Point taken. ;) I say someone starts at 4k activation, and works up. =) Maybe I should, but there's only one thing stopping me; Money. ;) Anyone want to buy a laptop? Hehee.

Damn will that system really help the power? Too bad I can't use it now that the manifold is so worked over.

I was wondering where all my washer fluid went........sigh.

You removed the tumblers I hope (VTCS).....not the VICS with the bigger butterflies.

fb - i think it's just conincidence it opens right near 5252. i think mine here in oz doesnt open until 5500. i think it's just where the factory worked out power was equal between close and open (and this is the reason why we probably need to change it depending on your mods)

twilightprotege- man your car smokes alot.....have you checked for coolant leaks, or done a compression test?

lol

Hehee. =) That's awesome. Yeah, VTCS and VICS are quite important not to confuse with one and the other! You're probably right, though... I'm sure it was just a coincidence.

I just found out today esi has every spec. you could ever think of wanting on pretty much every engine mazda makes....

our injectors are 272-300cc....
our fuel pressure is appr. 34psi, yet the max pressure of the pump is 64-92psi.

Since I've been having problems getting enough fuel into the engine above 14psi, I think I'm gonna start messing around with injector size, and fuel pressure. I know I have a set of injectors out of an old 2.2 turbo from a mx-6 which I believe are 330 or 380's....However I can't find them and it's been a long time since I've worked on an mx-6 so I can't remember if they'll fit.
