I've got both cams in my car and I dynoed each one seperately. With the stock exhaust and intake, the cams don't make a ton of power, but they do make a difference.
The intake cam really didn't do much, but then it's not much larger than stock. Stock is .341 gross lift and 198 deg @.050 duration. The J-spec is .344 gross lift and 210 deg @.050 duration.
The exhaust cam is the one that I'd do if you can only afford one. The stocker is only .321 gross lift 198 dur, and the Mazdaspeed is .344 gross lift and 210 dur. I saw about 5 HP with the exhaust cam and about 2 with the intake. If you put a header on it, the power comes on a lot harder in the upper RPM though. The HP will climb to redline instead of falling off around 5700 or so.
I'm sure there is still quite a bit left in my engine that needs to be tuned to achieve maximum gains including some cam gears to move the valve events around a bit. I should have my E-manage by the weekend and I'll install it and see what happens.
