Installing lowering springs?

I was wondering if everyone installed there own lowering springs or if they brought them to a shop? If you installed them yourself, how did it go and how long did it take? If you brought it to a shop how much did it cost you?

Thanks for the help
Lenny

I called over a buddy of mine and we got it done in under 3 hours. pretty simple job to be honest. It was the first time I'd ever done it and it went smooth. I called a shop for s**** and giggles and they told me $300...:bs:

Be sure to get an alignment done afterwards...

Got my spring and install in a group buy for 500$

the intall should cost about 150 to 175 dollars. I was also told 300$ but i know that person is now a rip off!...can't imagin someone trying to charge 300$ U.S for an install....now that a rip!

not on the p5 but on a 97 accord we replaced the springs and struts...that took about 6 hours because we ran into some problems...nothing very difficult about it just remember where everything goes...our problems came when we installed the struts, part of it was knocking the wheel well...so we just hammered that part back...

did it myself, took about 5 1/2 hours total-took my time to be sure everything went cool. I also took a bunch of pictures along the way for a reference. pretty easy- you spend a lot af time pulling out the interior in the rear hatch.

i had a homie of mine who did springs on honda's all the time come over and help me out. over all took about 4 hours. 3 hours on the back two with getting all the paneling out and getting the struts apart. took about 40 minutes to do the front two. i would recommend waiting a few weeks before the alignment to make sure you got set right if you do do it yourself. hmmmm i have ground control coil overs. i love them! just jack the car back up and adjust!

me and a buddy did mine in about 3 hours and that was going slowly and being careful. if we had air tools, would have been easier. just take your time and you will be fine. i was also told $300 for the install.

One more ?

Did you guys use basic tools hammer and foot to do everything or did you need anything special besides a spring compressor(if you needed that?) Did you just use a jack and do one wheel lower it etc..... or did you need jackstands?? Thanks for the help?

I used a spring compressor-everything else was standard tools. I didn't even use a impact, all breaker bar material. car has only been on the road for 8 months so everything pretty clean and easy. the newer the ride the easier it is.

mp5forsnow, do you have pics of your car to post here? I have a black P5 and would like to see how it would look lowered...

You can also email them to me if you can't post them. My email: autosport@hotmail.com

Thanks,
Xavier

I was lucky, paid only for the springs and the install labor and alignment were free since a partner of mine hooked me up. I was told though that it was about $400 for the labor and alignment.

GXL - I have about 20 pictures all on a disc at my house(at work now) of the job and before and after shots. Not much of a coputer guy, so I'll have to find some help around here to post them. I'll try for tomorrow.

GXL, check out my image link at the bottom of my sig. I have eibach springs installed....

installed eibach springs today - took about 4hours

has anyone had a problem where the rear seatbelt housing gets locked up? I can not get the seatbelt to release so I can mount it back above the strut in the rear....

also after the install I believe my e-brake may be locked up....it does not work very well now, I can pull it up while I am driving and it does nothing

any ideas

I had the same exact problem, it was a pain in the ass. What I did was stick a flat headed screwdriver onto the metal plate that locks the mechanism and pulled out the belt long enough (you will hear some clicking, do not be afraid) to let it set it back on its mounting position. Something to do w/ the say it's positioned lets the belt loose again.
