I put in mt-90 today, when draining out the old it was a real muddy color. is this normal?? i ran my hand trough it and didnt notice any metal or anything just a brownish color.

Since the change the car shifts much smoother and goes in and out of gear eaiser. im very impressed.

i thin about 8$ a qt. needs 3 qts. plus shipping and a gear oil pump cost me 5$

id say around 35$ definilty worth it.

Yeah, the pump you stick in the top of the bottle to pump into your transaxle. I have one, and I can show you what's up. I just bought the gallon jug of Redline Superlight Shock Proof gear oil. Looks like popcorn butter. Motorsport Sales in Dallas/Richardson is like the southren warehose for Redline oils. They are on Floyd Cir, off TI Blvd.

I guess its obvious I have never done this before. If this really helps with shifting I think its worth the 30 bucks.

The pump is what I recommend, as the filling hole is pointed down. I just used one of the long-beaked pumps on top of the gallon bottle, and just pumped the bottle up and down until it started to spill out of the fill hole on the transaxle housing.

what color was the oil you drained? mine was a wierd muddy color that scares me. the pump made the job real easy, i could see with a funnel it might be a pain. like linux said it is facing downward. Also if your up top filling it that would suck if the funnel fell out and you spilled it. My pump has this thing on the end of the hose that holds it in place for you so you can pump with both hands. Got it for 5$ at sears craftsman. It is a universal pump that fits in a gallon jug.

Linux, is that Superlight Shock Proof gear oil different from the mt-90? just curious.

This gear pump, is it made by craftsman? I plan on going to Sears tomorrow night to find this part. I planned on changing out my gear oil this weekend and it sounds like I'll really benefit from this.

Where's a good place to buy a gear oil pump that will work with regular quarts?

i didnt see one. You need 3qts anyways so you may as well pour it into a gallon jug and then pum it all at once, so you dont have to keep changing the nosel.

im not sure if they make it, but its in the auto isle. None of my auto parts stores had one. All they had was a fluid transfer pump, but it was 15$.

I know the immediate effects of using the shockproof oil can be felt (as compared to mt-90 even though mt-90 isn't half bad). But any concern about long-term damage?

i wouldnt think it would damage it at all, correct? its meant for an LSD, but it wont hurt a normal tranny...

Well..you guys have convinced me. I already order some MTL and MT-90 (to mix). Next time, I'll go with shockproof.

Know of a good supplier (in Minnesota) or good mailorder place to get it?

whats the difference, does it cost more? is it better. Also i have a LSD so should i have used that?

Paul or Linux,

Any chance you can snap off a pic of that pump we've been talking about? I just got back from my local Sears in Mesa and they didn't have one in stock nor did they know what I was talking about. :(
