installed new battery...few problems

Hopefully someone here knows about this. I installed a new battery today and now my head unit (stock) does not work. Also, my remote locks do not work, I have to lock it with the button in the car. Anyone know why? Or how to fix this?

have any issues when you installed your battery? Try checking all the fuses in the car...something might have blown...

for the fuses? or the battery? I can start the car and everything seems to be working fine, except the radio and the remote door locks (keep in mind, the power door locks work fine when pressed)

ive taken off and removed my battery several times this past 2 days and never had a problem w/ this.

maybe you somehow shorted something out?

See if you are able to re-program your car to your remotes. {search for instructions in the forum.) That should tell you if something is broken. A lot of other manufacturers have unlock codes for the oem head units. Your owner manual will tell you... But I have not heard that mazda does this.

Not sure on which I connected first, but I did finally notice when I was looking at it at night that the dome lights were all out as well. So I looked at the #8 fuse, which is for these lights and sure enough, the fuse was out. I had looked in the owners manual for fuse locations and it said that #3 was for the radio, but that one was fine, I guess by radio it meant actual radio reception? Turns out the #8 is for the head unit and dome lights and remote locks. Problem solved. Still do not know why it went out though. Very odd.

it blew because you didn't pay attention which terminal you were connecting first and you most likely connected the negative terminal first which is a big no no.... weird s*** happens when the electronics reinitializes this way
