Any ideas? I just got my HKS Hipower last Thursday. I don't have time till Tuesday (my day off) to try to install it. I've read around that its really really easy, and I've already lifted the car enough to get to it. But I'm hella afraid to go under the car. Just want a good idea on how much it'll cost for like a muffler shop like Midas to just install it for me. It's sunday so I won't be able to call around, so much help would be appreciated.

dont pay more then 50 its two bolts over by the rear wheel. I say put your purse down and get under the car.

(werd) joo can dew eet...its a piece of cake really.

get some ramps and back your car up on them...its the easiest and safest way to get your car in the air to change the exhaust out ;)

nah you have to jack it up man cause you gotta get you arm in teh wheel well.
is there a difference betweent the HKS and my mazdaspeed axleback?

i did it on ramps, it was a HELLUVA lot higher than my jack goes(dunno)

I don't have ramps unfortunately. Been contemplating on getting some. I sure hope its less then $50 (more hoping less then $25). As for getting through the wheel well, I just looked at the way it goes, and I'm like whoa! I really do have to jack it up pretty high to get to the bolts from the side, or should I go underneath the car?

What's the bolt size on thoses, still trying to find my socket rench.

As for the difference in HKS to the Mazdaspeed, it's just the looks. The HKS is angled, which I am a fan of the style.

u can get ramps for around $20, thats how much mine were...Ive never heard of this taking the bolts off from the side thing...you need to scoot under there and just take em off from udnerneath. Piece o' friggin cake. They are 14mm btw ;)

Thanks guys, I'll stop by Kragen, or Autozone tomorrow and look around for ramps, any ideas on brands? I really would like to do it myself, for the pride of DIY, but its this damn feeling the cars gonna crush me to death (stooges)

are you slightly claustrophobic?

i went to numerous shops like midas and carx; the quotes ranged from $30-$70...its very easy actually, i just didnt have the muscle to do it. just have someone from the forums help you.

when I had sport exhuast, I took it to the local midas and they only charged me $15, because it was direct bolt on system

Oohhh that actually sounds good. If ND4SPEED can't help me by Monday I'll look around Midas.

just dont let anyone take you man.. dont pay more then 50, if you dont have the tools i understand but if you can get someone that can its even more solid and you live in cali? theres tons of people here that can help you... IF ND4 cant do it i can fidn someone on here to help you out.

I didnt even use a jack or ramps

The first exhaust I had I just backed up to the lip on my garage and crawled under.

you can do it, the only thing is the bolts rusted down pretty well, but you got nothing to loose by trying? If you don't have a set of closed end wrenches, i'd say go get them as you will need them in the future.

Well I got my exhaust installed. Me and a friend tried to unbolt the damn stock exhaust, it wouldn't budge. One of the bolts (the right side) looked like it was welded on cause the top nut had no seam between the nut and the metal below it. Anyways shopped around, and I got estimates from $35-72. Highest came from Midas, and one Midas said they wouldn't do it because of liability issues. Well I had it done by "The Muffler Shop." Even the guy there was like damn that 2nd bolt was a b****.

Anyways...it is installed now and I love the sound even with the silencer still on. Waiting for the exhaust to cool down so I can take the silencer out.

Even though I did not hear any rattles while driving, the exhaust does shake a lot from the outside, then again my stock exhaust looked like it too, I guess cause the outlet is larger the shake just amplifies. No rub on the bumber yet, the outlet is about 1~ in from the bumper.

I'll post pix tomorrow.

when i did mine at like 13000 miles the nut was nasty as s***.

if its shaky get the kartboy exhaust hanger
