Hey guys and gals of the board....

Quick question to those who have to get inspections yearly (or bi-yearly, whatever)... will Mazda fail your inspections if you blackened your headlight housing?

I haven't done it yet, but I was just wondering first...

Thanks!

Yeah, here in PA you have to get inspections and emissions done every year. I have free inspections from Mazda, so that's who I mainly will go to... but I'm just being cautious...

well firstly, what do you mean by blackened headlights? tinting them, or painting the surrounding housing black

ummmm... painting them black, like most people have done (you know, ghostP5's write-up kinda thing)

Seeing how some of Mazdas cars come like that, I dont see how they will even notice.. just tell them to look at a MSP if they say something.

As long as you dont make it obvious that they're modified (read: no spicy orange mica paint jobs on your black mica) then I doubt they'd even notice. While black absorbs heat/light, I also doubt that the light dispersement will be different enough to warrant a second look.

Sounds good... the only reason I say that it could fail is because you have to take the whole housing out, and putting it back in will probably misalign the lights... feel me?

I'm not a punk, nor am I scared of the dealers... I'm just being cautious as to what I do...

So.... the car was wrecked and the body shop didnt realign them correctly. Big deal.. adjust them out in their parking lot. :D

Sounds good... that's a good answer...

I guess I'm also scared to do it and then not like the outcome of the blackened headlights... then I won't be able to put it back to stock... Anyone have this prob?

im sure if you did a good job but still didnt like it you could trade someone who wants black headlights without wanting to do the work.

I guess you're right... that's reasonable... doesn't affect vision at all right?
