Injen Hydro Shield

ANyone have one? Do they work good? also anyone know the size of the Injen filter that comes with our kits?

Are you talking about the nylon mesh filter wrap-around or a metal cover?

I have one, but i didnt use it. It fits over the filter included with the Injen intake, but I opted to buy a dry flow K&N filter to use instead. The K&N filter is the same shape, and close to the same size, but the hydro shield won't fit it.

Hows the dry flow K&N work, is it comparable to the hydro shield or how is it different?

Its just a filter that doesnt use oil, it's made differently. I read some stuff about air filter oil sometimes causing problems with the MAF. Sometimes it comes off the filter, travels up the intake, and can stick to the MAF which could screw up it's readings.

So just to be safe, I found the part number for a very similar dry flow air filter and used it instead of the included filter.

It's probably a very small concern to be honest, i'm sure i could run the Injen filter and the hydroshield with no problems, but I thought it was better safe than sorry. Plus it's a hassle to remove the bumper just to change the filter, so the dry flow is staying where it is.

The Injen filter and the Hydroshield are sitting in the Injen box in my closet. That way if I ever sell the intake, i'll include everything, dry flow, oiled filter and the hydroshield.

I have an Injen CAI with the hydroshield installed. I have had it since April and it works great. The size I have is 1033.

To fit the MS CAI, you would need the large (or even the extra large for a looser fitting). The medium fits a little too tight; I had to cut a notch in it to get it to fit. Get the large for a just right fit or the extra large for a slightly loose fit.

I am currently using the medium on my MS CAI, but a large would fit better since you would not have to cut it and I think an extra large would be even a better fit than the large.

Another forum member that I recommended the large to, said it fit his MC CAI perfectly, though, he said he could have gotten the extra large for a slightly "looser" fit.

why would you want a looser fit?

It doesn't really matter...just preference...

The medium fits too tight and you have to cut a hotch for the stub on the filter...so that doesn't work. Plus the elastic part does not reach the neck of the filter.

According to another member who got the large said it fit perfectly, except it was a little tight also...this did not need to get cut for the notch. He said the extra large would probably be a better fit.

It doesn't matter if its a little loose or not... The way its supposed to fit according to the manufactures is a little loose not skin tight.

It's only five sizes, with three different color's = 15 items. Not sure which sizes are which, though.

Oh, I see what you mean... Go to another vendor. Don't buy it from Injet directly. When you go to a normal parts vendor, they will have the sizes listed normally; small, medium, large, and extra large.

just a note on the oiled k&n setup...7 yrs no issues, if you follow the instructions and don't over oil and clean it regularly your golden!

Dead on... When you wash your filter let it COMPLETELY dry before oiling. People often are rushed or cant wait and dont let the filter dry before oiling. Once oiled, the oil and water run up the intake. Do it right and it should take you an over night to dry and then oil and then the morning for that oil to dry. Dont over oil as a precautionary, under oil as your precautionary.
