Injen CAI=slower spooling

Re: Re: no way

Its not horseshit...the CAI makes more power, just in a different area of the power band than the stock box does.....

Agreed. Go race the stock msp from a stand still and one with just an Injen CAI. Do it from a 2nd gear 20 mph and 3rd gear 40mph roll even. You will see how much horseshit it is.

EDIT
Also tell me why could a 500 hp supra twin set up beat a single turbo 650 hp set up? Answer power delivery.

Question from a relative noob: Would true RAM air make any difference with a turbo? Would it help the turbo spool faster? And because air is being forced in would it make compressor surge even worse? Cheers.

Edit: The "ram air" I've seen on other boosted cars (i.e. wrx) are designed to flow through the intercoolers or are simply vents for looks, and are not true ram air.

For those who may give a s***...
I just completed putting in my INJEN CAI. Test drove it about an hour later...
Anyone who says this doesn't make a difference can go to Hell.
Pretty much 'nuff said!

Well strange thing happened..the turbo spools up as fast as it did before with the stock box...And the sound through the intake is louder...I think maybe something was blocking the airflow or vacuum line...or the ECU has 'learned' to compensate for the higher amount of air. Not really sure, but it sounds louder and spools faster now...I checked all the connections, etc....and everything looks good...

In my experience, any ECU takes time to adjust to changes like that, even temp changes. I think you are right about that. :D

Hell ya

Today while I was driving I noticed that the loudness of the intake went away again, and the turbo doesn't spool as fast....its like sometimes its sucking more air and spooling fast, and sometimes it's not...weird...

There seems to be a mid rpm hesistation that shows up worse with an open element filter. from 3000 to 4500. Probably making the factory hesistation worse than it is.

UnWrittenLaw......Were there any severe temp differences on those days? Also was your ECU reset after CAI install?

No, not really any temp differences...and the ECU was reset after the installation. It just seems like every once in awhile, the CAI will be much louder and pull in more air...but its random. Maybe I should try resetting the ECU again...

All I know is that I got 150hp. from the install...Of course, I'm just kidding, but if you want to do it, DO IT! I did, and have no complaints, such far.

yes it is
