Indiglo Install?

I was thinking here. I have a switch there already so I wont be putting it there. You would have to take the metal plate off, obviously.

Another spot (if it fits) would be between the cup holders.

I thought about putting it there, you woudn't have to extend any wires or anything, but i thought it might get in the way of the steering wheel mechanism (the one that adjusts the height) so i opted to just run the extra wire to get it into my ashtray.
And where exactly inbetween your cupholders?

I'm going over the MPH needle...is that stronger?

That one and the tach needle can handle the little bit of pressure required to get the overlay on. Almost bend the face by the slits up, so it will go on easier. Its hard to explain the image in my head...

Our equipment tech here is insisting that the needles must come off somehow. I keep telling him the horror stories of people breaking needles when trying to pull them off. I'm right in insisting to keep the needles on, right?

Anyways, guys, i think i have to go to my other job now, where there is no computer...
Best of luck to both of you, and i hope you don't bust anything

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!

HELLLLZZZ YEAH!!!!

The MPH was the hardest. The slit was SOOO big. Tach was 2nd hardest, the slit didn't need to be too big. I copied Smithers' slits for the fuel/temp and those were quite big enough. It was easier than the other two.

K, now...what the hell am I going to do with this wiring????? I want to mount in on the bottom left by my fog light button. Also, I need in depth explaining on how to tap into the power. I have one wire that ends in a brass circle and another exposed wire. What do I do with these?

The wire with the ring on it is ground.

The wire that has the fuse on it is power. Cut the fuse off. Tap into the green and black wire that is in the (big) right harness that is where you will get power from.

The other wires just plug into the plugs. Its pretty self explanitory.

I hope to do this later tonight.

If you want to wait untill tommorow or late (2 or 3 am) I will have a complete write up on it.

Did you take off your stock gauges?

Nope, laid the new ones over the stock. I'll check up on your writeup tomorrow. Take pics if you can of where the wires need to go. Thanks man, good luck!

PS....BE VERY GENTLE WITH THE NEEDLES!!! They can take SOME pressure, but not much. Peace

Congrats volley. You are one of the few who has done this and not broken anything. Snap some pics as soon as you can, I want to see :D

Ok good news and bad news.

First the good. I installed my gauges without breaking a needle!

now for the bad. My cammera didnt work last night due to lack of battery power, so I dont have any pics for you guys.

BUT.. I will go back out and take everything appart again (I will not take the gauges off) and take pictures of it.

Give me about an hour and I should be able to have a wite up on how to wire it.

How To: Wire indiglo gauges

Here it is... It really is an easy install if you have any knowledge of how to wire stuff together.

harness 1.jpg
KEY WORD SPLICE Cut wire and strip both ends then add the RED power wire and solider back together.

THIS IS GROUND (not recommended for an audio gorund) Use BLACK wire with ring on the end

I did not take a pic of the 3 plugs that need to be plugged in because I think anyone can figure out what to do with those.

Awesome write up man. I really appreciate it. You dumbed it down to my standards. Were the needles a pain?? They definitely were for me. It was very rewarding though when I finally did it. I was so proud of myself.

I wish i had cut my fuel and temp gauge like you guys did, but i didn't so now i don't have my temp gauge...
But i want to see pics of the gauges see how good they look :D
And volley, have you gotten yours all wired yet?
and smithers, how are you going to get to the dials when you're driving around and you want to adust the brightness? Thats why i wired mine to a semi-accessible spot.

Actually I pulled them down so that I can reach them when I am driving. My camera takes bad night shots, here is a daytime shot.

As far as putting the gauges on, EASY. I just forced them over the needle as I held the needle so that it would not break. Its all about feeling.
