Then some jackass will park next to you just to spite you.

Yupo. The only time I tried that, that's exactly what happened.

Also, I find when you park on the far end of the lot you end up getting a worse 'breed' of car and driver parking next to you... the big ol' luxobarges and trucks, the people who can't drive and/or park, the people who use the parking lot to park free when they're going across the street to their psychiatrist appointments. (shocked)

I've found that people are SO damn lazy, that if you put a shopping cart in the space next to you, they're too lazy to get out and move it, and won't park there...but then you run the risk of the wind blowing the cart into your car...or some dumbass pushing it out of the way wish his front bumper, and of course it would head straight for your car. It's kind of strange that I'm posting on this subject, as someone keyed my car yesterday in my employers parking garage....security is reviewing the security tape as we speak, looking for the asshole responsible. They better hope they get to him / her before I do.

i think you should be there looking at the tape also, you never know, it could be somebody they know and they'll end up telling you, "sorry, we didnt see anyone"

I'll have to go with the Captain on the paintless dent repair. Had some work done on a previous Lexus and it WAS amazing. Like new.

As for parking tips - I generally do the park-as-far-as-possible or park next to a curb or island so I only subject one side to any possible damage. I also remember reading about how doors on coupes are generally longer and therefore more likely to ding so I generally try to park by sedans. I DON'T do the take up two spaces routine since this usually invites more jerks to likely screw with my car.
