So a couple a days ago i started to hear this whistling noise from the BVP. After a few days it went away then i got a check engine light and now when i am at a stop my idle drops like if it wants to turn off. I had a friend of mine to check the CEL and he said that i was running to lean. What can be wrong? any suggestion please and thank you in advance

If you heard a whistling, are you sure it was not coming from the wastegate actuator?
Did/do you have any erratic boost?
How many miles are on the car? and is it the stock wastegate actuator?

i am not sure if it was the wastegate actuator but there was a a whistling noise.
what do you mean by erratic?
the car has 65,000 miles and yes it is the stock wastegate actuator

Do you have a boost gauge installed? I'm guessing he was asking what your gauge displays at idle. Depending on your elevation, it should be steady around 18-20hg. What code are you getting from the CEL? Sounds like a vacuum leak though. Try blowing through the line going to your wga. If its solid (meaning you can't blow through, not matter how hard you try), then your wga is fine. Then I'd try checking all the other vacuum lines; spark plugs; coils; and maybe even the bpv is bad. Sometimes a seafoam treatment can help; but it really depends on what the problem is.

i've seen youtube video's of people seafoaming thier cars. i kinda thought it was for show, is there a engine benefit from it?

the show part is just a really neat bonus.. Let me ask you this are fuel system treatments for show? With that said i've seagoams everyone one of my cars more then just once.

Is this something you can get at autozone?
How long has it been around? I just heard about it for the first time this week

You should be able to get it at any parts store. Autozone just happens to be closest to me, so that's where I get it. Depending on how you use it, it has different results. There are plenty of write-ups on it, but the only way I've done it was via the pcv hose.

Seafoam has been around and used by smart people since the late 1940s. So it is not a snake oil like some of that other crap available in stores and elsewhere.

Use it frequently and you won't have some of the more common MSP driveability issues. But it won't solve the need for you to replace your pcv, spark plugs and air filter when needed. All of which can cause the idle dip. And so can unmetered air leaks as mentioned.

The WGA if fubured may whistle and trigger a P0171 cel.

Erattic idle will not be caused by a faulty wga. Iac valve, leaky bpv, or even a gummed up egr valve will all do it.

go to autozone and get one. you don't even necessarily have to hook it up in the cabin. just hook it up under the hood and start car and see what vacuum is at idle

Ao I fixed my CEL I had to put in new spark plugs but I still have the erratic idleling. I notice it when I press on the brake for a stop. Any suggestions?

Absolutely positively give it a seafoam treatment. I did it Saturday on my P5 with my usual skepticism of miracle cures, and am now a believer. I had a problem since I got it where if the rpm's suddenly dropped the engine would stall, or it would stall when waiting at a red light, all when the engine was warm. I was mentally bracing myself to pull the freaking EGR valve off to clean it but decided to put some seafoam in it instead.

After putting about 1/3 in the intake via the pcv hose (use a funnel) and the rest in the crankcase she now idles like a champ. Be sure to let it sit for awhile before trying to start it again, the instructions say do it while the engine is running, but mine wouldn't idle while pouring and I didn't have a helper to keep the rpm's up. Let it sit for about 10min (otherwise it'll just crank and you'll have heart failure that you broke something) before starting. Do this outside with the car door closed and windows up, because that white smoke they say is normal is actually like a fricking smoke screen that goes on and on and on. Let it run with the engine rpm's around 2k for 5 min or so then take it for a 15-20min aggressive run and laugh as everyone stares at you for the incredible plumes of white smoke coming out of the exhaust. Keep driving until you can't see the white smoke anymore.

See if that helps.
