03 Black Mica MSP
ok so basically after it was all said and done i massivly overpaid for my black mica MSP, and i overlooked a lot since i felt a slight rush to get out of my 2007 chevy impala (it was a POS), and although i really honestly do love the car, it just hurts thinking how bad i ****** up financially buying this car..

Heres a list of problems

-rear fenders have begun rusting (although not visable from outside, it is there and growing)
-My drivers side a-pillar is rusting right next to the window/under the window seal)
-various underbody components begining to rust (fuel tank, control arms, ect..)
-Has a few oil leaks (oil filter sandwhich, valve cover, turbo oil return, and the bottom half of the timing cover(oil pump?))
-practically stock other then a few items i personally added
-it will need a new clutch relativaly soon

i would tell you guys what i payed for this heap but in all honesty it embarasses me to even tell people...

I am just curious if i should sell it or part it out...

or simply drive it till it falls apart...

Or fix it. None of that stuff is major sand the rust and primer it then get a $22 color matched spray paint and paint it. Those oil leaks are simple fixes. If its leaking around the crank it's just the crank seal. Seals and gaskets are cheap. If you baby it you can probly make the clutch last till tax time

Rust isn't a big issue if its dealt with immediately.

Ok well that's a little comforting lol

I know I can fix it pretty easily, I'm just a little overwhelmed with everything ha. I should have done more research since I paid easily 2-3 grand over what its worth in my eyes

Oh and I work +50 hours. Week and drive 1hour too and from work everyday lol, so that adds to the stress :P

Take it one step at a time. Pick one area of the car to work on and try to make it a weekend project. I work 50+ hours a week as well and we're raising our 7 month old so I can relate.

If it was me I'd do the valve cover gasket it takes 30-45 min. Then figure out with the sandwich plate, then the seal that's leaking on the crank case those could be an all day project, the rust you can do little by little and stop whenever you need or want to

I have felt your exact feelings before, my Speed is in near the same condition (beginning to rust, oil leaks, etc). But it starts and runs everyday, and it still blasts up mountains... Just keep the fluids topped off and take it one project at a time as previous posters have mentioned.

Fix it up- i'm trying to fix up a 2001 ES- nothing special yet i feel it's worth saving. MSP's more worth it eh? Your car doesn't seem to have anything too bad going on-
-I've got rust in a couple areas around my windshield- i feel like it's gona' pop out one day. There's rust where the shock absorbers bolt onto my car- i feel like i'm gona' hit a too-big bump one day which will 1)cause the lights in my gauge cluster that don't come on unless you pound on the cluster in the right spot... to turn on (yay) and 2) a spring will blast out of my trunk when the rust gives way and the struts free themselves.
i also have rust near my gas cap that makes me think one day i will pump gas through a hole and onto the ground.
Next time you see a car on the road that's rusting apart but some guy's still drivin' it around, just think that you car could get a whole lot worse and it'll still be o.k. :D Or fix it up before it falls apart because a fallen apart msp would be sad :(

I just built mine and have spent a ton of cash on it this past year, but I'm letting it become someone elses car soon.

whhhatt...I dont understand perferio You have gone through so much with the car...
