I'm seriously interested in how you are going to come up with the cash.

Not all of us are 9-5 drones slaving away for a paycheck...

I think the point more is that if you are just a regular consumer out there. Why would you get a dyno that is more than the car rather than just a better car. Unless of course you really have a thing for the MSP where you can't find a better car for an extra 20 grand or so.

Well, since everyone seems so interested;

Question a) where would I get the money? Owning businesses and real estate, I make tons of it. I also have very affluent friends who are interested in cars. Not to mention that there are neat little financial services products called leases and loans.

Question b) Why buy a dyno when I could just buy a better car? I bought the car because I liked it. I also travel extensively and I cannot justify spending exorbitant amounts of money on such a quickly depreciating asset.

The question you really want to ask is; why do I want one? There are alot of reasons, not the least of which is that I want one. Another would be that my associates and I have an interest in cars and car business'. Now I'm not going to elaborate on the details of that statement but just think about this.... What is the first question on everyones lips when they hear about a product? Wheres the dyno sheet???

BTW - Thanks to Captain for his input. Thats all I really needed.

So then would you be willing to rent out Dyno runs at a discount to forum members who live close enough to make the drive or is your lifestyle simply to "affluent"?

This could be a great opportunity for you to meet members of the forum. There has been plenty of knowledge gained already, and it shows no signs of slowing. Would you be willing to help your fellow forum members?

I'm sorry if I sounded like a dick. Renting it out is definitly part of the plan. And I love my MSProtege.com buddies so they would definitly get hooked up!

Vapor,

Do not get a dynojet. thier software, and even the system itself is pretty well outdated. Check out the mustang dyno's. http://www.mustangdyne.com/ from reviews I have read comparing the both, and using both myself, the Mustang Dyno is the best bang for the buck. It has the ability to constanty be updated as conditions, and advancments are made .:D

EDIT: Let me also suggest in investing in an AWD dyno, that way, you dont limit your clientel you rent to, and dont limit your R&D dept from developing AWD car parts. :D

yeah i was gonna say make sure you get a awd dyno...otherwise it's not gonna be worth it in the future should mazda decide to come out with a awd in any of their cars...

Well of course you would be questioned coming on to a Protege forum asking where to get a $50,000+ dyno. If you were the business entrepreneur you promote yourself to be, I'd imagine research would be a familiar starting point. I can't really see a successful business founded by anonymous advice on a message board. :)
