I owned one.. did you?

I had a '97 Eclipse, 8x,xxx miles with only oil changes and tire replacement - I did not spend one dime on that car. No problems whatsoever, but you know how something just "feels" cheap? I traded before the car's impending doom.

maybe this is the reason for some of the rumors I've been hearing that the SRT-4 and Evo is gonna combine to one car. Don't know exact details but this is interesting.

No, DaimlerChrysler was in a joint project with Mitsu for a Lancer/Neon/PT Cruiser platform, but if you read the article DMC just bailed on Mitsu. I seriously doubt the Evolution and SRT4 were going to somehow combine into one car.

Convictions Confirmed

Indeed, my longstanding conviction that Mitsubishi isn't worth my time or money is confirmed. With perhaps the exception of the Starion (spoken of in an earlier thread), which I liked while I was a kid (without knowing anything about its reliability), I've never cared for Mitsubishi. They can all piss off as far as I'm concerned-- Good riddance. The Lancer is an ugly and offensive POS, case in point.

One poster did bring up a good point on that other thread however, regarding competition that would be lost if Mitsu was to barf their way out of business: If Subaru, etc. had no other competitors they'd have much more freedom in terms of building pieces of s***. Subaru has already begun lowering themselves with the poor reliability of the Baja and sub-standard, bulls*** reliability of the Impreza. In large part, without Mitsubishi, who's there to make them care if their products suck ass?

So it's a tough call-- I'd be happy if Mitsubishi were gone on one hand (companies that build bogus products don't deserve to be in business, in my opinion), but on the other I'd be rather unhappy with Subaru having free reign to build whatever they want without care for quality.

WoW, I will say this, they dumped millions into the 2F2F movie to help bolster thier percetion in the states. They have a good base of cars in the states, and it seems the cars affeted are not in the states. Therefore, if anything, they may JUST continue to sell cars in the states. Just my speculation is all. :D

hows this for 'ownd one'

That guy owned? More like the American buying public. That guy is probably a billionaire.

well his company ownd anyway

im sure hell get in some trouble for not releasing recalls when he should have

And the deal is what? Yes they may have hide some, but to what extent are these recalls and what models does it affect. This appears mostly to be the press just pressing the issue more on Mitsu than it probably needs to be. Truth be told there are probably a few other companies scrambling right now to keep their defects from coming out.

Hmmm is that the sound of mice running around at Mazda???

They make some neat cars. But; they have never faired well in any consumer reports mags.
