I was looking at my tires today and they are gonna need to be changed before long, they wear pretty quickly it seem, i only have 26 000km on the car...im sure they will last another 2-3k km though....

Anyway i was looking on tirerack and such site...dont know what i should go with, I live in canada so i go my own tires just for the winter with the rims so i just need them to be for the summer...

Id like the performance side of the tires to be as good as the Potenza and if they could last a little longer that would be great too!

So what do you got for yourself or what do you plan on getting?

Lower price is always great too!

I got my sumitomo htr III's from tirerack at 110 a peice, size 235/40/18. I think they're just as good as stock performance wise. Also offer a smoother and less noisy ride. True there are better tires out there, but, for the price I don't think you can beat it.

yeap at 110$ those sound very appealing, im gonna check them out?

You say they are smoother? Does you feel the handling is affected? like more bodyroll?

Anyone else BTW?

I like my Kumho tires. I bought them from Tire Rack for like $530 shipped I think. You can check them out there, they have pretty good ratings. I personally believe they are much better than stock, especially in wet weather. Turn in isn't quite as sharp as the Bridgestones, but handling and ride quality are excellent.

the tire that go the on the MS3 seem to be the 215/45-18 though...

How does that work, would the sumitomo fit on my stock mags? They are larger bigger right?

HOw does the .../...-.. work exactly?

I recently put Yokohama S-Drives (225/45/18) on my MS3 for $130 per tire, shipped, and am very happy with them. I also ran these tires on my previous MINI Cooper S. They stick well both wet & dry, ride quietly, and ride relatively soft when cruising. Plus, they gave me at least 50% more miles than my previous sets of tires (Kumho Ecsta MX, Falken Azeni Sport, Yokohama Parada Spec-II) Like the MS3 itself, one of the best combinations of performance & practicality out there.

I am also reading a LOT of good press and reviews of the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo. Sounds like it has similar qualities to the S-Drive, and is in the same price range.

If you want to know how much an off-size tire is off, check on the Miata.net Tire Size Calculator.

I have the Falken 452's, they have great dry traction and excellent wet traction. Also very quiet.

But go for the Hankook Ventus's, I've heard great things about 'em.

I just bought Hankook Ventus V12 K110 225/45/18 to fit stock wheel.

Have very few miles (less than 10) on them so dont have a write up yet, they came in second in car and driver august. $126 per tire delivered after rebate.
Can get them cheaper if you go stock size or 225/40

how does the size rating system work? any tires can fit on my car as long as they are 18''?
what are the 2 first value?

Yeah my tires are wider than stock, 235's because I bought new wheels with them as well, 18x8's. Where as our stock wheels are 18x7. So I now have an extra inch of width for thicker tires, but it's not necessary. And went with only 40 sidewall to avoid rubbing. Lots of people are going with wider tires to A. get better traction, and B. it just looks better. Basically just read up on the links that people have been posting and that will explain it. If you want to stay with the stock wheels, a popular choice is 225/45. And you can get any tires in almost any size, but prices will be different.

i have to agree with sally, i loved my sumitomos i had. awesome traction for summer tires. wore amazing as well, and even had grip in a freak october snowstorm! i have kumho ecstas on now, got them from a friend who had them on an M3 and bought new wheels and tires. they give great traction as well. as for yokohama and hankook, don't know alot about either of them.

i do know my next set of tires is going to be either the sumitomos again or maybe stick with kumho.

i know it all depends on the tire.... but in a general way do the 225/45 tire sizes fit on a stock ride height without rubbing?
