It fits pretty snug thanks to the vinyl and a little overspray...
Though when I get the panel back in my car, I will probably use some industrial velcro to keep it from shaking loose.

I'm a firm believer that the driver's side is the ideal location for single 8". It only takes up un-useable space in the hatch whereas the passenger side a) gets in the way of the jack and b) will jut out into useable space.

If I had spare time, I'd fab up a whole bunch of these to sell to P5 owners...but alas I am consumed by my own project.

Does Adire even make the Koda 8" anymore?

It is entirely possible that they don't. I haven't kept up with much car audio stuff lately. Although I did just remember... RE 8" sub! Those things are dirt cheap and surprisingly decent. You would definitely want a ported box with one of those though.

Keep us updated, I want to see this in the car and hear your thoughts. It seems like it'd be great to fill in the lower octaves while retaining all your cargo space.

I think the best part is that you can build it with the panel outside the car. Anyone who has worked with FG can tell you that even if you remove a FG part after the first layer, the smell lingers for weeks and comes back to haunt you on warm summer days.

BTW, Image Dynamics ID8 FTW! Decent mounting depth, high power handling, and works great in small sealed enclosures. It's only an entry-level sub but it can play with the big-boys.

I haven't thought of a price but I will entertain offers. The speaker is an Adire AV8 and needs breakin time (haven't fired it up for more than a few seconds of testing). I bought the speaker for $77. Here are its specs:

I measured the volume with water when I made it and I think it was very close to the .7 cubic foot sealed subwoofer that they show on the specs: F3 of 46hz and SPL at 120db...
