just in time for summer, i managed to drop my girlfriend's skintimate can (which was brand new so it was nice and heavy) onto my big toe. now i'm just waiting for the toe nail to fall off. ugh. i can't stand to look at it so i decided to post it on the web for all of your enjoyment or horror, whichever.

wow that sucks...i just had a staple go underneath my fingernail (WTF?!?) and prick me and mine looks like that too....except the whole nail is red from the fresh blood. i hate work

Damn - LOL! Thats funny but its not.. That happens to me quite often..dropping the shaving cream can and trying to dodge it, then almost busting my ass trying to dodge it in the slippery shower. hahhaa.. Well, hey, atleast you have a nice toenail.. :D

man those hurt so bad.

I my friend got his finger slammed in a door one time, and his mom got a paper clip and held it ona lighter for like 5 minutes so it was really hot, and then poked it so all the blood could release. it was kinda cool. shes a docter btw

my doctor gave me three options:

1) leave it alone
2) similar to the paperclip idea, pull up the nail a bit to relieve pressure
3) drill a hole in the nail and let the blood out.

the thought of #3 almost made me faint. as you can see, i just left it alone.

what's skintimate? i dropped a jar of pickles on my toe and it didn't look that bad. a can of skintimate must be REALLY heavy. hope your nail falls off soon so a new one can grow in its place. nothing worst than to have gangrene infected looking toes.

it fell from about my shoulder height (i'm 6'1") and the metal rim around the bottom landed perfectly onto the nail.

that would explain it. jar'o'pickles out of fridge is a lot less devestating than jar'o'shaving cream from 5' up. ouchie. i say just cut off the toe altogether!

yeah, that gel s*** is too heavy until it turns to foam...too bad i only have to shave about once a week

that's nothing.

backpacking trip -> both of my big toenails turned completely
black and fell off. I had 3 BIG blisters too. Man did my feet
look fugly that summer.

btw. must break in new hiking shoes before backpacking trip.

try a 600 pound piece of granite rock. Fell on top of my finger/took the very top right off. All healed, and no scares thank god.

2 hiking trips with a pair of boots that tricked me into thinking they were broken in.

well at least you aren't going to lose the nail....it will grow out...but not fall off you did't get into the nail bed to break it.

NOW...as for the #3 idea....that actually works and it works great....HOWERVER....you do NOT want to actually drill on it..as you certainly don't want to apply presure as you KNOW how much that hurts....and seeing as how its been a few days the blood under there is probably drying up and at this point wouldn't do much good...

BUT!!

IN THE FUTURE.....what you do is this...its painless and works like a champ.

get a pin...either a regular straight pin or a sewing needle....if you have a gas stove fine...otherwise a kitchen match or cig lighter will work.

take the pin/needle and heat the tip of it RED HOT! then just barely touch the point of it to the nail above the blood...do NOT push....your nail will MELT like plastic leaving a little hole and the blood will come out and releave the presure.
