All Mazdas.....
Hey guys I don't own a Mazda personally, but I do work for a Mazda dealership. So if theres any questions or anything else that I can help you anyone with please shoot me an email. Ill keep you all posted about any new products and stuff like that too. Great Site!

sorry man, this is the same avatar I use on all forums, I respect that though, Ill change it.

I am sure you will have TONS of warranty questions, but why don't we keep this board clean and stick to PMs for that, huh guys?

btw, which dealership do you work for??

I have a question. If someone were to take their Mazda to a dealership, would they be able to do a transmission conversion with a warrantee and all that? Or does Mazda not want to deal with the liability of an aftermarket conversion like that?

I only ask because i really want a manual, and can't find a manual 626 as well taken care of as mine, and i don't know how to do the conversion myself. Plus, if i take it to a mechanic to do it, who knows how long it will hold up.

I work for a dealer group that owns two Mazda dealerships, called Hiley, however mine is outside of Dallas. Keeping the forum clean though, I am more than happy to take up any questions through PMs.

Ohschnapps, a swap like that would not be considered something that would be covered under warranty. What Mazda considers a warranty claim would be replacing the part, however large or small, with the same one, or an upgrade if the part is obsolete. Also, there must something wrong with the part. Your best guess may be to find a Mazda tech, and a transmission as well as all needed parts, and have him do it on the side. Therefore, he knows what he is doing and can do it in a timely fashion, and not paying the larger price that us as a dealership might charge you.

That's what i figured, just thought i'd make sure. You know, it's better to take it to someone who is good with your specific car, than to take it to a local mechanic and have the shifter fall through the floor.

Edit: Why would i need a new brake pedal? the one i have works, is it different than the brake pedal on a manual?

AFAIK brake pedals are very wide on autotragic cars. It may interefere with the new clutch pedal.

lol.... autotragic. never heard that term before. Mine doesnt seem that wide, but if i end up going through with this, i'll look into that.

you might be able to get away using the auto pedal but do you really want to chance going down the road and possably slamming on the brakes trying to hit the clutch.

Could you get me the brake dimensions for the following, and I don't just mean the discs and pads. I also need the spacing between the mounting holes on the hubs that the callipers fit to.

I have heard that certain later model cars have the exact same fitment as the MX6, but with larger callipers and discs. If I can find out exactly which ones are a direct fit, it will make the MX6 community very happy as it's a much cheaper option for a brake upgrade than an aftermarket big brake kit.

:) that'd work for me too, my brakes "froze" twice, the pads wore down extremely fast (far under the warranty 10,000mi) and were grinding into the calipers. The mechanic replaced them for free, but had to take the whole brake system apart and clean everything, because brake dust was getting in there and causing the problem. It may happen again, so maybe i should nip it in the bud and replace everything.

Whats the deal with the CAI for the MS3. I want one, cause it wont void my warrantee, but they're aren't selling it. Not sure why, don't really care why, more about when they will be selling it again.
