Hwy 9 Fun Run!

hey the altezzas look pretty damn good next to the silver paint, i know that a lot of people hate them, but personally i think its a much better look than the stock reds. The reason the car is so close to stock is because of the 7 year warrenty that was paid for, this car has to last through college and grad school, and because ive been a poor college student almost since I got the car. I'm making major bank this summer though and looking into a larger rear sway bar and front strut tower bar. Once these tires wear out im planning on getting pirelli pzero nero M&S 205/45/16. I'm not gonna buy stuff like that early when the stock stuff is still usable, i didnt buy the K&N until the stock filter needed to be replaced.

thanks natey, got a link to a map i can look at for these places? or an intersection to find tunitas?

I love Alpine.

don't buy the pzero neros

you can get better tires for a lot cheaper

Azenis, Toyo Proxes, Yokohamas....

Azenis wear pretty quickly. Yoko Parada Spec2s wear more slowly...in fact, they are kinda surprising me with their tread life. Ya has Toyos on his Miata, and he's gotten even faster with them.

My next tire will either be Kumho MXs, Yoko ES-100s or the T1-Ss that KpaBap has. :)

Kumho MX!

Lighter than Azenis but very comparable grip. The Toyos I like to call the squealy girls. And they don't seem to guard against rim damage too well (headshake

haha, the ES100s don't really belong in the same class as the kumho MXs and the T1S

good if we're going for tread life I guess

The toyos are possible THE lightest tire ever at a scrawny 12 lbs or so per tire (195/50/15) vs. 21 for the azenis in 205/50/15.

I hear you about the es100s, but after eating up those Azenis in +-three months, I'm ready to buy some tires that I can actually get used to before they're toast.
Wow, those T1-Ss are lighter than light. I'm swaying that way now.

i still back the MXs, people say they last longer than the azenis, but of course not as long as the T1S-es, can't beat $59 a tire for the toyos either

yup, where can i get a set of brackets if you need yours?
(uhm) A junkyard or the dealer, I'd imagine. We oughtta meet up soetime and see if it'll fit without one of the brackets.

I was digging the ES's when I had them, but they dont even come close to the grip that higher level tires offer. For the money, they are alright, although I prefer the Azenis. I think I might go with the MX's this time around for the winter season.
