Hi guys,

Here's the issue... in 2nd gear, while the wheels are slightly turned, the HPFP is losing is pressure. I can feel it by the car not taking is gaz. As soon as I put the 3rd gear, everything is fine.

Also, they is no issues when on a straight line. I have Datalogs, but I'm not able to attach them (invalid file).

Anyone can help?

Problem seems to be the SWAS (Steering Wheel Angle Sensor)... I found some info on another Mazdaspeed forum.

How do I disable the steering angle sensor, to prevent power cut in 2nd gear at Laguna Seca.

Someone must have done this.........

I get severe power cut coming out of turn 11 at Laguna Seca, which is THE most important corner on the course as it leads to the longest straight.
The problem goes away once the wheel is straight, or I can work around it by taking the turn in 3rd gear at less than optimal rpm.
But either way it is a pain in the ass, and slows me down big time, both through the turn and on the straight as it prevents me from getting the power down early.

I want to disable or reduce the effect of the steering angle sensor, either permanently or temporarily.

HOW?
Also how does the reduction in power work, does it scale an PCM input/output.
Can I just unplug it?
Or do I need to use a resistor or something?
Where is it?
HELP!

Any side effects...... is this sensor used by anything else..... stability control for instance that I should know about.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you are correct. I think the SWAS is responsible. The sensor is used to help with torque steer. The only way around it is to unplug it and then you loss power steering too. This is not that big of a deal until you go and try to parellel park.
