How will I afford the water bill?

Just wondering when my obsession will stop.

I have owned my P5 for 6 days, and I have already washed it 3 times (not including the wipe down after a late evening rainstorm). I cannot stand the thought of a spec of dirt on it. Also, I have this strange feeling of satisfaction while wiping the sponge around the front bumper.

Does this affliction go away soon, or do I need some professional help?

Please don't tell me that this is totally normal.

this is perfectly normal....and about the dent, ive had my car for a year and have 0 dents, and only 2 scratches (that i know about)

it will go away when you get your first (inevitable) dent

yup same thing happened to me...got my first door ding so i gave upo on the cleaning and wax....and now noone seems to mess with the mp3....

the obsession MAY or MAY NOT go away.....it depends on you...and how much you really love your car....

I have had mine for a year and a half now.....I never allow it to be truely dirty.... a little dusty but never DIRTY. and as for the door ding..or dent....well I always park far far away from everyone else....and have avoided that too.....but if it happens....do the right thing and have it fixed right away...and keep cleaning your car.

had my MP5 for just over a year and have zero dents. rock paint chips is another thing...

Every Sunday morning before that hot Arizona heat gets around to the front of my driveway I wash my black beauty. I used my new mirco-fiber cloths this weekend and was AMAZED! One towel to dry and she came out water spot free. Thanks to ARG#7 for telling us about these towels.

Last night was the nicest we've had all week, so I go outside to wash the cars.:D
I get done washing the Trans Am. (all nice and clean!)
I start washing the MP3 get to the passenger's side, washing around the MP3 emblem and there's a scratch right on the body line of the door, so I feel and it's a F-ing dent. SonofaBiTch:mad: So I try to forget about it (not going to happen). Get the car all clean and dryed off, walk around the car to look and there it is. I don't think I want to drive it anymore. IT SUCKS BALLS!!!

sorry had to vent.

I know how you feel man. I just discovered my first scratch after owning my car for over a year and a half. It's on my passanger side and from the looks of it, some woman probably let her car door swung all the way open and at the very end of the full swing, her car door knicked mine. To top it all off, a few days ago while sitting at a light some jackass decided to drive off when the light turned green. This would have been fine if the f****** idiot was'n right behind me. Now I have another mark on my bumper. Granted the average person probably won't be able to see either scratch, but I know they are there so it bothers the living sh** out of me.

Anyhow, back to the topic here. I still wash my car every weekend depending on weather of course. I also wax it every 3 months.

Same here only I was sitting dead stop on the highway. But he was cool his daughter spilled her juice and he didn't know his foot came off the brake. So I go it repainted $391.00 his insurance payed for it.

Sorry to postwhore. I don't think I will ever wash my MP3 again.
Buying a Mazdaspeed insted.:D

the first week i had my car someone decided to use the bumper method to parallel park behind me....of course i didn't notice until i was washing my car the first weekend and found the two licence plate screws.

that same time i also found a scratch on my right rear rim. I dont know how it got there but it was too late to take it back to the dealership and complain....it pisses me off every time i wash my car now. Its towards the center of the rim along one of the spokes. I thought I could have done it when I parked...but when I parked in the same spot (where I got the screwholes) I checked and noticed that the curb wasn't high enough to scratch my rim...so I guess the dealership must have done it. grrrr.

You better hope you get your first dent by mid summer...I know my town issues a water ban....what will you do if you can only wash your car on odd days?

Water?! You're worried about affording water?! Wait until the mods start :D........and you thought washing the car was addictive.......

Hey I have the bug too, just put 2 coats of wax on my P5. Was so eager to get it done, I applied/removed the first coat while waiting for friends in the parking lot at work. I tell you, you get some straaaange looks from contractors hauling lumber out of Home Depot when you're caressing the back end of a car.

My product of choice: Mother's California Gold Carnuba Wax :)

If you were "caressing" a Dodge Ram or something, they probably wouldn't have given you a second glance......:p

I know that look too, I was at Home Depot buying paint supplies for my house and the looks I got while loading my MP5 with 6 gallons of paint was almost as if I was blaspheming. Oh well, I still pulled out of there with the tunes bumpin' and a smile on my face. The only bad part is that it was a nice weekend weather wise and I spent it all painting the inside of my house instead of washing my car. :(
