How to make Custom Sway Bar End links

ok i got some threaded rod from fastenal. they only sold nuts in huge packs for $15 so i need to find somewhere that sells the nuts i need.

and also is the o-rings still the best thing to use? and i still need washers. so far i have the end pieces from McMasters(8), fine threaded grade 8 bolts(8), and matching nuts(8).
anything else? i know i need washers. and whats the fastest easiest way to cut the rod?

best way is t have the nut on the side you want. then cut it with a hack saw. to fix the threads take the nut on the side that you are going to use and take the nut off the rod. That in turn will dye the rod.

Im going to try polyurethane bushings that I got on ebay. in stead of the orings. (beside they were disintegrated with in the first couple of days)

still don't see the point in the o-rings or special bushings heh. all you really need is a collar so the ball can move freely.can be made out of pipe cut offs even which i was gonna do untill i found the poly ones.
the only thing i might add in the future is a boot for the balljoints to make them weather proof.

been like 5 months now since i installed them. it pisses rain here, snows, generally sucks and my endlinks still look brand new =)

The ones that I'm making now are studded with a boot. I'm still kinda iffy on the bushings part. From what I understand the bushings is supposed to reduce clunking and extend the life of the end rod.

The second one is the type i am using for the revised set that I am doing for my rears.

I like it being metric also - 10mm is about 0.020" diameter tighter fit than the 3/8".

Did you find an economical source for the metric threaded rod? How long does each rod need to be?

It depends if you are lowered. I ended up getting my rod at Home Depot. I wanna say the fronts are cut to 10" and the rears at 6" Id suggest you measure your stocks before you cut though. lol

Post some pics up if you do do it!

Actually I found a better place with better parts. I can get the metric ball joint rod ends, with both left hand thread and right hand thread, with a hex rod coupling in between (left and right thread ends). This allows adjustablitity with the end links connected.

Like the Powergrid links, only it doesn't cost nearly as much:

When I get mine I'll post up pics. If there is enough interest I might consider doing a kit for a GB.

wish I would've seen this back when it was first posted! I broke a few endlinks on my old ES, and I could've gotten some of the parts for this right at my work.

great work guys.

Here's what mine look like:

Turning the hex with the link installed can lengthen or shorten the link.

those are nice,

i need fronts but with my car being lowered wouldn't it make since to make shorter than stock endlinks?
