How-To: LED Interior / Reverse / Licence plate lights

Finally got around to doing LED foglights. Really only a cosmetic change as the bulbs and how the factory housing is set up, really doesn't project the light. I never used them when stock because I didn't like how yellow they looked compared to the stock HIDs. Anyway, here's how it turned out....

What kind of LED's did you use for the fogs?

Hey has anybody tried the "Lexen White T10 SMD LED Bulbs" from Ebay?? They seem pretty bright and wide. They said that it would fit our License plate, Map light, and the Trunk/Cargo area. I dont know though, the connection is nothing like the one that it should be.

first post

just bought a 2010 mazda3 i touring sedan. great car!
I'm looking to change interior lighting to LED. anyone know what I need and a good place to buy?

also, if there are any owners of the 2010 mazda3, that may have any comments about their car.

thanks

Not sure about the 2010 bulb sizes. I used superbrightleds.com for overhead glove box, LP light, trunk and map lights. I have a sedan, the bulbs for the trunk, LP, glove and maps are the 194 wedge based bulbs. Easy to find on that site. The 3022-xHP2 will work for the overhead. This is the high power SMD based LED version. Good light, I think the 6 SMD bulb would fit too but the 2 LED one is quite bright enough for me. I used the cool white and with black leather it looks fantastic. Bought 30 bucks for the whole deal. They are also selling wedge based SMD LED's now but the 6-LED bulbs in the maps and glove worked fine for me.

Hi Guys,

I am a n00b and this is a nice and cheap mod to start with. Thanks for the great tutorial.

I have encountered a problem when I tried to replace the trunk light (I am driving a Mazda 3 07 sedan). I just couldn't take the original bulb out and my fat fingers were stupid enough to push the whole thing in. Anyone have replace their trunk light in the sedan before? Any tip on how to get it done?

Many Thanks!

I had the same problem as posted above. I pushed the whole assembly up into the overspace of the trunk though. Managed to get it somewhat back into place just cant pop it back into it's hole. Only problem I had with the whole install.

Ok, so I think this thread has been around long enough to get a good verdict on this: superbrightleds.com, v-leds.com, or ...? Read about a lot of people having problems with their lights and don't want to be changing bulbs every 3 months (or sooner in some posts).

Pics of my blue LED's

Here are some pics of blue LED's on the interior, and a before and after on the license plate. I used the same bulbs listed at the beginning of the thread. I replaced the dome and 2 map lights, and tag. The only difference is for the dome I couldn't wait (though Super LED shipped quickly ) I bought a 9 led blue dome light at Auto Zone. It was very bright. A few days later I changed the map lights, didn't really get any brighter. The Auto Zone LED was around $9 though, but I may put the map lights back to OEM so I can use them for reading. Her are some pics.
