How to install an Apexi Auto Timer w/ O2 AF

I did this install before this write up and I am not sure why you did both red and blue wires to the solid red ignition wire, But this is my setup and it works amazing. Able to use keyless entry and everything while its running.

Apexi wire - Car wire

Red - Black w/ red stripe
Blue - Solid yellow wire
Green - Green w/ yellow stripe

Guess it doesnt really matter as long as it works properly. Nice write up and pictures though.

ok so i was trying to set-up my tt a/f o2v settings and going by the manuals chart it says enter this.

10/960...12/940...14/820...14.6/450...15/010...16/006...18/004...20/002

the idea they came around to is running your a/f ratios based on the o2 voltage readouts. not the most accurate way to do a/f but something to tell you if your running rich or lean. is this the same rich or lean as the narrow band gauge or a closer estimate to a real a/f? i hope it doesnt give pretty much a throttle response to a/f like those f-in light shows.

anyway i guess my other question is....
mine numbers only travel .005 per in the o2v side, so i end up having to enter .005 for 20 and .010 for 18 and .015 for 16 and .020 for 15. im assuming you have the same tt and have set it up so im reaching out for some help here. i dont get what im doing wrong because my a/f doesnt seem to be running correct.

i know this isnt a sure way to run your a/f which is why i have the cobb ap but i want it set-up you know? PITA. any help would be appreciated.

Sorry I cant be of any help, I did not use my TT for a/f reading. I am using a a/f gauge. I honestly think it will be more on the lines of a narrowband and the sensor wire you hooked to is the narrowband sensor on the car. So i doubt it will be any better than what a narrowband gauge could show you...Sucks I know.

Yeah it's narrowband only as far as I know.
Don't try to tap in the stock wideband as that I can guarantee will not work and cause your wideband to fail. Widebands use a closed loop system unlike a narrowband which estimates based on voltage inputs (0.2V - 0.8V).

im not using it for a/f. just want it to be set-up. im wierd like that. i prob wont even look at it. lol. jst knowing its not doing what it should annoys me.

Can i tap my narrowband a/f gauge to that white rear oxygen sensor wire?

thats what i did when i was putting in my dp. it was right there so i did. i think its the black wire but id do some searching before you go ahead and do that for good. works fine either way.
all the turbo timer does is read voltage from the o2 and tries to convert it into an a/f readout.

I have the turbo timer, spliced into ignition/acc wires in the steering column only. However, everything works fine, except for the dealership alarm, does not engage, when you press lock button twice (the horn). That green light does not appear and only the red light can be seen. The only way to get the alarm to engage is waiting for the TT to run out of time and relock the car once that is done. Then the alarm is set. Therefore, that defeats the purpose of the turbo timer, if I have to wait.

Anyone know what I need to accomplish to make the alarm work?

Interesting... I've never installed this on a Speed3 with the factory alarm. Be interesting to find a solution to this.

i mean the black plastic tap. im having a problem with my STRI auto timer. its having hesitation when i shut off the engine, but quickly within a second power and the ignition came back on and waiting for countdown. i dont think thats normal. any clues????

Wouldn't it follow the same concept as the aftermarket alarms...I actually never knew about my alarm not being engaged until like a couple months later, when a local Mazda member told me about it. And I checked mine, and surprisingly, I had it too.

my friend with is ms6 had the same problem with his hks tt. let me get him to chime in on this to see if he got it fixed.

i am having the same problem as you.. havent fixed it yet.. my theory is its the ignition tap in i did..maybe its not in the right location or maybe i used the wrong kind of wire tap i have no idea..im sure someone will chime in on this..

i tried hooked the red wire from tt and tap into the black and red strip wire under the steering , but still doing the same. i remembered when i installed my tt in my turbo ITR, i used the black tap too and the result were perfect. no hesitation!!anybodys any clues???

Well I installed my Apexi TT today and it works..........but the factory alarm doesn't arm when the doors lock. I have the RX8 shock sensor mod added to the factory alarm which makes it easy to check if the alarm is armed and working. So when I just normally lock the doors (without TT) the red light on the dash starts to flash and the factory alarm sets (shock sensor works). When I use the TT I still get the red light on the dash but it seems the factory alarm didn't arm since the shock sensor will no longer work. I tried running the blue wire to 12V+ (ACC switched) but that doesn't work either.

Any suggestions what to do to sort this out........

BTW it is a 08 GT MS3

Thanks,
BulldogSRT

I have this A'pexi turbo timer and haven't tried to install yet but i'm wanting it to go as smoothly as possible. Would these instructions be the same on a 03 MSP as the MS3? I haven't been able to find a write up on this exact timer with the MSP.. all mix and match with different timers or different cars. Any help would be appreciated.. i don't want to tear it apart and be stuck if it can be avoided.
