How to - Get an an AFC to work on the MSP

Looks like either e-manage or mpi tuner for me. With all the stuff you have to get for the emanage to work (e-manage unit, ignition harness, tuning software, voltage clamp) it really isn't all that cheap.

Its like ~600 after everything i think (including FM clamp), and then wideband O2, and personally id get a walboro fuel pump. I dont think id need bigger injectors because i just want to smooth out the curve right now at stock boost.

Hmm. Since I may be going FI eventually, I'll keep this in mind, but could you draw up a diagram of what you mean? I'm mostly curious if the resistor goes between the MAF and the AFC, or the AFC and the ECU.

Does anyone know the voltage range of the narrowband sensor?
And also the voltage corresponding to a stoich. condition?

Another question, why exactly do you need to modify the o2 signal? As long as the SAFC II and the ECU read the same voltage, it should work.... right?

Im sure i'll figure this all out when i get it installed... but it will be another 2 weeks or so.

Guys I hate to break the news to you but my guy said this will not work what you are trying to do, before you go and spend all this money. He said he has tried this.

I am wondering how to build my own voltage clamp. already found a pressure sensor...wondering if i could use a zener diode or probaby just a cap and resistor.

i will be getting rid my own within a month or two, you can have and reverse engineer it if you like

did he say why this wont work. if it works on the emanage why wouldnt it work with the afc

He did say but I was not paying attention, I asked him because I disscussed what you guys were trying to do, and he did say that he has tried this and it will not work.

Can you find out for us?
I shall call him tomorrow, I just don't want you wasting all that money, I am sure that what you are using does not do the same thing as the emanage, they even had that problem on th Hondas when they tried tuning with that.

eh im too lazy to search for the safcII thread so I'll post here and you can move it if you think its valueable info....I had a fully functional and tunable SAFC working on my FSO3 turboed 95MX6...thats right i had fuel control and all...I did it by modifying the signal both into the safc and out of the safc to deal with the voltage problem. However i used a circuit board design to manage voltage, for the dynamic change part. Since the mx6 was originally N/A I didnt need to mess with modifying the o2 signal... I was able to tune stoich/slightly rich all the way to 9psi...the person i sold it to blew it at 10psi, though it was due to a worn out engine, not necessarily detonation...this was on stock injectors with a Wally 190 fuel pump....if you are still concerned about fuel the dsm 450 injectors are a perfect swap in the the fs series engines and will provide more fuel than most protege owners will ever need. You can pick them up for around 50 bucks all day long on ebay...Im fairly confident I can take care of the voltage problem if someone can handle the o2 problem(have to find my old circuit design though), this o2 problem is uncharted territory for me so. As far as the pressure switch why not just use the same thing JoeP is using for his fcd kits. its an adjustable pressure switch...
