how to get a job at disney

:
GLA45
anyone? i've always thought that this would be the coolest company to work for because they're so innovative and do so much cool stuff. i'm watching this thing on the travel channel about the things they do and the history of the place and it's incredible. i'd imagine it would be hard to get a job there, so does anybody know how to get a job there? what are they looking for, how to apply, all that good stuff.

I assume you're not talking about any positions at the Disney STORE correct? In any case, the store I would never recommend. Had a friend who worked there and they were super anal about EVERYTHING. Unfortunately I don't know much about the parks or any other venues but from what I know they are very specific and play by the rules kinda place. BUT, if it's what you want to do then I def encourage you to find out more about it. (2thumbs) :D

you're asking a really vague question.

do you want to dress up as mickey and hug kids all day?

or do you want to do computer animation for their films?

maybe their game department?

human resources?

i can tell you right now, its incredibly hard to get hired as an animator, artist, or designer there. you have to usualyl already be established somehow, plus you have to take classes at the disney institute. they usually only hire people that they know they trained.

I think the first requirement is to be a homosexual...I swear, Ive been there like 6 times and i feel so dirty after I leave, no thanks to the staff(blarf)

i do believe it is still up an running, but more as an in-house training facility, not so much a "take the kids and learn how to make mickey dance via a 2hr. class" thing.

Two people who I worked with in college worked there for part of their Disney program. One was a character, I think winnie the pooh, the other one was a garbage man. Well, doesn't matter since they are all called "cast members". But yeah, there are so many Disney jobs, you have to be more specific.

These two friends got the opportunity when Disney came around recruiting for their annual thing. More like a Co-op. After the experience both of them returned. One of them went back to Disney and was a host on a show in MGM.

i don't want to dress up as anything :)
i don't want to work in gaming or human resources. i used to want to do computer animation, but now i've broadened what i would like to do to include things like animatronics and things like that. basically things where you get to be creative, not running around playing with kids, emptying garbage, or dancing around as a giant mouse. i know these things are hard to get into there, so i'm just wondering how one would go about starting out

so i went looking around this site, basically i should've interned there already :( hopefully i can get something next summer, but it looks like they only take students who are returning to school in the fall and not people who just graduated, but it wouldn't hurt to try. other than that, i need experience pretty much. i guess i need to talk to my uncle who works doing graphics stuff for a large company or try to get a job at the place in town that makes a cad/cam program so i can get some related experience and not stupid boring insurance company computer work. at least now i can have some direction while i start to look for a job :)

i have a coworker that used to work for disney dreamworks (basically their technology/animation department) he was a student...i'll ask the ins/outs

I have heard that working on the Disney cruise ships is the s***.... hard to get in but I hear it is great. I am sure you can find something on the web on it.

first thing....go out and buy yourself a BIG mouse suite....then show up at the front gates of one of the parks at opening time.
