How To: Ebay FMIC

I meet a fellow MSP owner yesterday and he had a FMIC installed said that the MAF will require a 2.1/2 to 2.3/4 coupler cause the 2.1/2 to 2.1/2 wouldn't fit.... true?

Yup the 2.5 inch coupler is a really tight fit and u might end up bending your nail while attempting to force it on the maf but it will fit perfectly fine.. eBay has reducers for cheaper.

Not sure if u guys have signed up for eBay bucks, but it helps. I did a free 30 day trial Netflix but thru eBays site and received $15 in eBay bucks.I will cancel b4 the 30 days and be charged nothing and still have free $15 to spend on anything lol. There are also other trial packages on there also that give u eBay bucks. It all helps

bend my nail, lolz

Just going to throw this out there, I'm kinda laughing at the idea, but I have a greddy RS bov that I am going to be using and I need a gasket for it. Think if i find one that would fit that a random thermostat gasket would work?

well I'll have to cut enough of it off for the intercooler and the 90 degree couplers to fit under it because of the orientation I painted it in lol

ya what nails? lol but yes they will fit, I noticed the cheaper ebay/RX racing or whatever couplers were able to be sqeezed onto the MAF sensor, but the vibrant couplers I had from my smic kit would not, because the walls on them were slightly thicker.. but you should be fine, I just used a tiny bit of WD-40 on the outside of the MAF area to slide them on, and yes I cleaned up any excess around the area and I had some MAF cleaner there as well

but ya evilmonkey just go slow enough and start out by only cutting a little bit to make it flush with the bumper and test fit everything, it will take more time but its better than cutting too much and then being screwed later on.. but actually I re-read what you said and I understand better what you are actually talking about, but you will be fine, just stick your IC with the couplers over the bumper support kind of and trace what you need cut out depending on how you plan to mount it, this way you won't cut more than you have to and it will make fitment much much easier, just remember to take a file and dull the edges, and I would paint the areas you cut from the bumper support so it doesn't rust

lol yeah, I've heard the hairspray thing before. Gotta go pick me up some aquanet! lol

Hey all, just about half way done with my install and everthing is going great! 2.5" couplers will work going over the MAF, all I had to do was dunk the couplers in boiling water and they slid right over. Only had to cut one tiny piece of the frame (so far), super tiny flimsy steel tab... idk what to call it. Will have pics up later tonight some time, can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

anybody have 2 spare 2.5" straight couplers and clamps they could spare?? ill pay shipping on them

just ordered a couple and didnt change mailing address so they wne to my ex.... they "return to sender" all my mail that goes there D:

lack of thinking = FAIL

Cutting the bumper support yesterday took some time but was beneficial I think. I got all the stock stuff removed and intercooler mounted. Just have to run piping next.

Test fit after intercooler installed
