How To: Ebay FMIC

pretty well it looks like. It stuck to the intercooler great when I painted it. It's meant to last on the outside and inside of BBQ grills so I see no issues.

I left the other side unpainted in case it ever needs a repaint :D

so, I've now had 3 different people lined up to come pick up my piping kit, and when it came time to arrange a day for pickup, all 3 disappeared into thin air. srsly.

That sucks wagon backer. You should make a for sale thread on here and see if someone on here is interested.

ya I hate when people back out last minute, that is one of the things.. well the main thing that drove me nuts on my part out, I couldn't take it anymore.. people should either want the thing and have the money for it or not, and not back out last minute all the time

With almost 28k post, obviously I know your not a noob.I never saw a thread of yours for the fmic ,etc. That's why I asked.

So i decided to relocate the maf sensor to my cold pipe due to me having idle issues and bad acceleration and boost cut ,etc. The car runs a whole lot better and feels even better then when I purchased the car.feels like a whole new car. I still have the common hesitation but no more boost/fuel cut or rpm drop when idling . Nothing that a ssafc can't fix. I am happy with the results of just relocating the maf.

yup, it's amazing what a little change like that does, I couldn't believe the difference when I did mine, makes the car much more enjoyable

So speedaction20 how did you mount your ic to the bumper? Just drill holes through the top?

well I know this is really really overdue, but I was looking for the link for the slim fans to amazon and found this, I really need to take some actual pics of my setup, or how it's mounted and all that, but I had little tabs welded onto the back side of the IC, and just mounted them into the back of the bumper support that way, but I also drilled holes straight down and mounted 2 of the screw things to the IC that way.. the 3rd one was to much of a pain in unnecessary.. I was running out of patience at that point, and destroying my drill bits trying to get them to line up perfectly and enlarging the holes when they didn't..

here are some actual pics of what I am talking about finally, the cold side I just went through the area like CS install says for the most part, and I couldn't get any real good pics of that area, but anyways.. very late but here ya go.

Overall view,+ the new horns I put in because the stock one sounds like a little roadrunner

Hot Side went like pretty much most peoples
IMG_2495.jpg

Bottom of the hot side, and how I connected to the IC, I had an IC that had inlets/outlets in the middle and not up high, and with the combination between cutting the bumper support to make it flush and the 45* couplers I had on there, I was able to get them under the fogs.. also I was able to have my mud guards there in tact and all screwed in, but a recent hit from a damn floor mat on the highway ripped that part off

and actually I mine as well add these in there too to get the whole picture, but these I took when I was actually installing it, the first is a test fit before I had my final couplers (had to order some more 45* ones), and the 2nd is mounting of the IC with everything off

hey jdmdikk

Since it looks like your intercooler was the same as mine, do you remember what size/thread pitch bolts you got to mount it? That way I dont have to drag the damn thing into home depot lol

I bought my bolts from a hardware store. I measured the middle metal to the bottom metal and bought bolts a little longer then that to fit into the intercooler bolting section. I also bought 2 big washers from the hardware store also. Spent under $4 for bolts and washers.they are metric bolts.

I also bought a thin piece of metal sheeting from Home depot (cost me $4) that I can cut with my tin snips. I'm going to trace the outline of the SMIC and cut out a block off plate for the fan overhang. We'll see how that goes.

I think it was a m8 1.25 but I could be wrong. I have bad memorie. Lol. Just take the intercooler to the store .it's What I had to do.atleast u will know that u bought the right ones.Home depot didnt have a long enough bolt for me so that's why I had no choice but to go to the local hard ware store
