Very nice. I have the same intercooler and similar pipping kit. I took my hard pipes off today and stock smic. Tomorrow I will mock up my grip plier bead maker and also cut my pipes and bolt my fmic.seems like it will be a pain the a$$ but I will make it work.

How tall is the metal bumper support that the FMIC mounts to?

I'm going to drill holes through it and use bolts to mount the FMIC. Just gotta get the right length.

The bumper support is supposed to be really heavy duty thick metal so you may need some special or at least spare drill bits, maybe a Cobalt bit or something? I haven't done it yet so I'm not sure but my kit is on the way.

Not 100% sure on the siZe but I can find out for u today. I did my install yesterday and it was kinda a pain in the a$$ lol.the metal is so hard to drill thru also.I had to cut metal, move radiator to the drivers side some, pull power steering lines upwards, etc. I will post pics today .came out nice and clean and I ran my pipes thru the side of the radiator.and was able to keep my cai.I bolted the fmic with bolts but from the middle section(metal) that is in the bumper support.so it's metal on top/middle/bottom.

Good stuff! I hop you took lots of pics for us!

I have to relocate the radiator bracket and place about 4 clamps.I am 95% done. Sucks that it's raining outside but I have a tent that I will put together so I can finish today. But fmic is bolted and bumper fits perfect..will take lots of pictures for u guys.

looks awesome. nice work.

can you tell us what pieces (pipes and couplers) you used for the hot and cold pipes in order?

and any pics of what you used for the radiator brackets.

I was able to leave my radiator brackets alone and was able to leave the radiator, both fans and power steering lines in their factory location and all are bolted on the factory location. So it was a near perfect install
Cold side
Straight coupler to cut 75* pipe, straight coupler, bov adapter pipe, straight coupler,4-5inch straight pipe, straight coupler,45 degree pipe,90 degree coupler to the core.
Hot side
2inch to 2.5 inch reducer,cut U-bend pipe,90 degree coupler(home depot one but u have to cut the bead roll but u don't have to if u use a normal 2.5 inch 90 degree),cut 90 pipe,90 degree coupler to core.
also....why didn't you relocate your maf?
I didn't relocate the maf since I decided to keep my Injen cai and have less work to do lol. The car runs perfectly fine so I don't see any reason on moving it but If I do,I have enough pipes to make it work, etc.

ya, the MAF not being relocated (at least with an SSAFC or if you try to do any tuning) the car will run really rich in-between harder/quick shifts and bog down a little, it was a big PITA for me so I just relocated mine, car ran soo much better and all I had to do was cut some of the extra straight pipe I had around from the kit and just stick it in that place for the Injen CAI, I think I posted pics a while back but don't remember.

but also, doesn't leaving your rad. there without the extra brackets leave that side kinda wobbley? I just drilled 2 quick holes in there and moved the stock rad. bracket over there and put some bolts I had left over from my old msp parted out (coming up from the holes so it looked like the stock rad. placement area) and just put some nuts down and tightened everything.. worked great and made a bracket from some aluminum for the fan

I just realized that I actually never took pics of the install with an actual camera, just the phone, and even then nothing really, I guess I just forgot to take them.. but you can see the brackets i am talking about in this pic

oh and also ya as far as drilling holes and stuff, the titanium ones i had for cutting metal worked but it was pretty hard still, and I cut out about 1-1.25" out of the bumper bar to make the FMIC flush with the bumper gap and it ate up a good 3-4 cutting disks for the grinder, I still have to take it off sometime to spray some anti-rust stuff on there, forgot to do that

I can't tell you guys how happy it makes me to see more of you taking on a little extra work and running with this idea instead of wasting $500+ for the same result.

Now.. if only there were a way to cut $500 off the cost of a power added on my new car. Stupid high displacement V8s... never any shortcuts!

^^ psh, looser haha, with all the (hopefully) little problems and the hassle the msps can give us, this is a very much needed shortcut, just wish I had done this the first time instead of the smic, but then again the smic was the first mod I did along with the cai and hardpipes, so I had no clue what I was doing then, and this would have been too much for me, but I am very happy with the "custom" fmic route, makes it unique for each person depending on how they do it, and customize the little things to make it work for them

Which, when you think about it... is EXACTLY what this hobby is all about.

Good info wagonbaker9. I plan on adding a bracket to the right side of the radiator. Everything is a tight fit and nothing is wobbely.I might try out the maf relocate and just add a str8 pipe like u did on the cai. I actually had that in mind.hopefully tomorrow I have time to mess around with the car a bit

just make sure you position the maf closest to the throttle body then the bov after it.

I don't know if I would want the MAF that close to the TB though, with how sensitive that thing is, the turbelance might throw it off sometimes, I had a guy that lives around here that had his BOV too close to the MAF and it was making his car stall or something I forget what was happening but the car ran like s*** with it that close, I'm sure a good 8-10" or so is good, at least it's perfect for mine.. and now I have my BOV on the hot pipe, but I think I am going to stick another HKS on the cold pipe just to get rid of some little flutter in low boost and just to have it for when I increase the boost/bigger turbo ect... but mostly just for fun

Edit: I might have misunderstood your post evilmonkey, but to me it just sounded like you were saying stick the MAF as close to the TB as you can
