How to best quiet MS3 exhaust?

Thanks for the, uhh... suggestions? :P

I'll keep my eyes out for some aftermarket options (resonator, borla, etc) and see if anything pans out.

Appreciate those w/legitimate suggestions :P

I think the drone is what is getting you. Am I right?

I installed about 60lbs or so of Raamat (sound deadener), and some Ensolite, which improved this drone a bit.

I think GHL also makes an exhaust that is quieter on drone (but louder on WOT moments), check me on that one.

What about those of us with legitimate and illegitimate suggestions. I'm telling ya, you shoulda bought the 6 instead. You'd have no issues with it.

My issue is with all the sonic aspects of the exhaust, unfortunately. The drone, the tone, the loudness. Are there louder, more annoying exhausts out there? Absolutely, but there's got to be a better middle-ground solution available. Most people want their exhaust to sound throaty or louder or whatever - I want mind to STFU so I can drive home at 3am without waking up the neighbors and drive around w/o attracting attention to myself. I need someone to DE-PIMP MY RIDE!

Here are a few clips that show what I'm looking for. Bad news, they both seem to sound horrid up close - whether that's distortion or something else, I don't know. Good news, they both sound much closer to the sound (or lack thereof) I'm aiming for w/the silencers installed:

- Miata w/silencer
- Civic w/silencer

As for a speed6, I have way more issues with that car than this one ;) Exhaust being the notable exception to the list haha

Quieter and Performance do not go hand in hand, you should have bought a regular 3.

Not necessarily. Bassani (makes Mustang exhausts, and we know how quiet those are, lol) sells every one of their kits with baffles that goes into the tail pipe. This quiets it down to about stock while retaining the same performance. Loud is something I didn't want with this car either, but I can live with it. It's not all that bad.

I've never seen an instance where performance stayed the same without the muffler being bigger. Even Bassani states that bigger is quieter. Remove baffles and sound increases along with flow, there is no way around that.
