How old can of a certified pre owned cx-5 can you buy?

In the summer of 2019 I plan on buying a 2016 cx-5, I don't really like the 2017 styling and plus I think it will be out of my budget. I would really like to get a certified pre owned one so I can get that 7 year/100K mile power train warranty. A quick search on Autotrader right now only shows CPO CX-5's back to 2014 Is two years as far back as Mazda will go on there CPO vehicles? Also, if I were to buy one from a private party would it be possible to take it to Mazda to get it certified?

I would think you could get a 33-36 month lease trade in CPOd. Remember, the 2016.5s will be a little "fresher" in 2019 than earlier production 2016s.

To be honest, since the 2018's are being sold at dealers, a CPO 2014 is actually 4 years back, not 2.

Thanks for the intel, I didn't even think about lease trade in vehicles. All the lease options on the Mazda website are for 36 months, so that might work out perfect!
