How often do you reach 4000rpm and beyond?

Does anyone have issues when shifting from second to third above 4k? Mine somtimes grinds a little in that range. I took it to the dealer and they said that they couldn't reproduce the problem. They suggested that the clucth be held in for 5 seconds or so while shifting.

I can't think of anytime since the break in period that my car isn't around 3000-5000. Except cruising, of course, but I dont do much of that.

Take it back and demand they fix it. 5 secs for shifting????? They must be out of their minds!! Shifting should take about one second.

same here --- no power down there. --- 4th gear for freeways unless over 70mph and only 2nd and 3rd for some city driving :)

I am hardly ever below 4k (except when cruising)... no power down there!

I'm the kinda driver that always wants to have the engine where I can get the most power to the wheels if I need it. Thus, I always try to keep the rpm's around 3500 when running 2-4th. I accelerate quickly, I usually shift at around 5k, so the rpm's don't drop below the powerband when I hit the next gear.
Personally, I rarely have the rpm's below 3k unless I'm crusing in 5th on the highway.

Kind of a Mel from Alice approach to defensive driving. "The best defense is a good o-fence". May use slightly more gas (I'm still getting around 28mpg), and might put a little more wear on the engine, but I feel like I have more control over the car and will have more ability to get out of a bad situation if I need to.

(note: I may be off a little on where I shift, I shift more based on feel and sound , and rarely watch the tac. I do know I keep it above 3-3.5k as I did make a note of where the power kicks in when I first got my P5)

wow thats crazy how many ppl stay around 4 and above... i always shift at 3 or a lil below only time im ever above 4 is if im trying to drive aggressive but man lots o ppl stay so high... hmmm preference i guess

3-3500 for me daily driving. If I need to pass, yes, I'll go around 4k. My car is ass loud so I hate winding it out lol.

yea i guess thats my problem too... if i go above 3k my s*** is extremely loud. o it sounds nice and i love it but i try to be considerate for the most part plus my x never wanted to ride with me saying it was to loud... i was like wtf... fine so wed take the p5

Whenever I have a reason to, I'll run it up to 6k. There is no reason to rev higher. If i go under a bridge or next to a wall I'll run it to 6k to hear my car and I tend to get in about 3 races a week.

all the time.....driving to work this morning i shifted at 2500 and it was no fun. can be done though with okay accel but power is in the upper end of this engine. the fun begins at 4000 RPM's......

Ive tried shifting at 3K on my new tank of gas, and my mileage doesnt seem to have improved at the 3/4 mark...We'll how the whole tank fares...
