so i tried this "Quakerstate" high octane booster last month, and i feel like it really gave the car a bit more pep.

1) is this all in my head?

2) if it really works how often can i keep using it?

3) what brands do you guys use?

my buddy does it every month and he sais it hasnt caused him any problems.
He calls it Horse Power in a bottle hahaha.

thanks

there is not enough in those bottles to really make a huge difference in octane levels. Its all in your head

thats what im worried about hehe,

but i was told it was good for the engine...

just for curiosity sake if i use it every month would it damage my car in anyway?

i feel like its a placebo for the car lol

If you are gonna go with race gas, might as well get the real deal and find a place that sells it and mix 3 gallons of it into your tank. You'll notice something there. I have one that is down the street but I wont dare cause my Fisher price rods may finally go pop considering I desperately need a tune.

As the saying goes, you gotta pay to play. Race gas is around $5 bucks or more per gallon but it's the real stuff not some "HIGH OCTANE" booster. Just don't fill the whole tank with it, get three gallons and then the rest 93. I wouldn't do it to a new engine though.

that booster will help...slightly...it may be in your head..and it may not be.

but if i'm not mistakin... higher octane=colder combustion

i run race gas in my quad, and the engine runs colder than if i use pump gas. and is therefore better for my motor..but thats a two stroke four wheeler and also..just my thoughts ;)

another thing, my oil is low, and im too lazy to have it serviced can I refill it with any type of oil or does it have to be drained?

thanks

i dont know about ANY type of oil, but turbo cars burn oil to some degree naturally and need to be topped off at least once before an 3 to 5k oil change.

what do youe mwan by topped off?

and whats the diff btwn synthetic il and what i have stock?

thanks

18psi on my vf34 WRX, catless, all sorts of mods. I haven't needed to top off the oil between oil changes yet. 70,000 miles on the car. Yes, a small amount of oil does naturally burn off, but in 5000 miles, it might be a 1/4 of a quart tops.

well how much oil a factory turbo car burns depends on what kind of power it was designed to handle which would dictate the clearances of said engine.

topped off means add w/e kind of oil you currently you have in the car to keep the dip stick showing Full.

A guy on this site told me the best thing to do is before u go to a track dump a bottle of the octane booster in to 1/2 tank of gas. He said he it would make a little difference. I have also heard that it is bad to use the octane booster too much because it can burn up your fuel injectors.

And about the oil, this thread talks about oil change if your interested.
