How much should I ask for my MSP?

Heres the deal: I would like to sell my MSP to get out my loan and buy something different. It has 50,000 miles. Its in near perfect shape aside from one little door ding on the drivers door. It's titanium grey, has a fully automatic sunroof, and some mods which probably dont help the resale but they are listed in my sig. I've been using full synthetic every 3000 miles and I've filled only with premium fuel since purchse of the vehicle. I've been the only owner as well. Non-smoker. No pets. I would like to put it up on carsoup very soon after I clean the hell out of it. I was thinking about listing it at around 13,500 or best offer. I think the blue book value is around 14,500 but I probably wont get that. Is that a fair and reasonable asking price? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks, Joe.

I think that's a reasonable price. I'm in a similar situation trying to get out of my loan and would take what I owe on it. With your mods it really depends on the buyer. Some people that would add appeal and value, while others might prefer a more stock vehicle where the mods may detract from the value.

I've been searching around and you can find high mileage MSP's for 9000 around MN, but I've also seen some selling for almost 15K at dealerships. Its sad that if someone offered me 15 K (which would be highly unlikely) I wouldnt be able to do it since my loan isnt even paid down that much. I think I hold the record for the worst loan on an MSP ever. Paid full sticker plus tint and sunroof were a little extra plus about 1000 bucks in negative equity from a previous loan. So a total loan of about 24K after taxes. I've had the car for a little more than 3 years. My credit isnt that bad either. Mid 640 score and no reposessions or bankruptcy s***. I should have never signed the contract. I was just way too excited to have car. It was almost unfair. And the finance manager at the dealership sugar coated everything and made it seem like he was doing me a favor by finding this crappy loan after originally telling me there was no way with a bunch of cash down. So I went home and almost cried not being able to buy the MSP. THen two days later got a phone call saying they worked something out. Should have never went in.

Well, let's not cry too much now, you signed for it, you still kept if for 3 years and still managed to modify it so....what is the problem? (dunno)

We all get caught with cars, because cars do not gain value like houses even if you modify it! For every 100$ you put into it, you might get 10-20$ out of it.....If you want to have a nice car, then you need to know it's expensive to own! Don't foget the interest you paid!

Well, i am in the same situation as you are....paid for it, taxes on it + interest... But hey, i love my car.....(stooges)

In this case I ****** myself so I cant really complain I guess but I just wish the loan would get paid down. I still owe in the high 17K range. Some people bought their MSP's brand new for that amount. I just think some car loans and loan officers get a little unethical when it comes getting someone to sign. The guy kept telling me I could refinance with the loan company after a few on time payments which they've never let me, and that I could always just sell the car if it was too much which I cant unless I have 5000 in cash ready to pay off the loan difference. If I would have known the loan would still be backwards after 3 years and 16,900 in payments already I would have never signed. At the time I knew nothing about finance and loans so I could have cared less. I understand that my mods do nothing for me as far as resale. Even if I was fully built I wouldnt expect anymore money for the car. I'm just modding for my own personal use. Since I'm stuck with the car for a while I might as well make it fun right? Being able to keep up with STI's from a roll makes me feel a little better. Its just really hard hearing people are now paying off their MSP's they bought brand new and I'm sitting here with a huge loan balance. Lesson learned for me. I just want someone else to say they are more ****** than me with their MSP loan. I would hate to say that I hold a record for the worst MSP loan in the country.

Well, i'm not that caught up in payments, but my car is still costing me money.

Keep the little sucker and enjoy it... I dunno how much the interest was, but it looks like they are enjoying you as a customer!

DAMN. You better keep that car, or drive around rich ass neighborhoods with a for sale sign on it.

You still have that Hi boost Downpipe? What condition and does it replace the stock one bolt on? Can i direct bolt on the Vibrand 3" exhaust J pipe to it like the stock S Pipe?

Yep Wells Fargo loves me. They call me once a month to ask me how everything is going too. They probably do that for everybody but I tell myself its just me because of all the money they are getting from me. LOL.

Ouch Joe! Hopefully you find a buyer that really likes your car. When I bought mine in fall of '05 the people I bought it from were asking 15k for the car and I talked them down to 14. After taxes etc, it ended up being right around 15 anyways. The lady who sold me the car had to sell. It was unfortunate for her because her and her fiance had the car a month and a half and then he got called overseas in the military and she couldn't drive a stick. Since there was no use having a car nobody could drive she had to sell it. She came to the bank with me to get her loan paid off by my bank since it was private sale. She had to pay another $5,000 just to pay off what she owed on the car on top of the 14k I gave her!!! Plus, she had already made one months payment. Long story short, you may want to look into keeping the car for a while longer or finding someone who really doesn't know what the msp is worth. I owe about 8 on my car still and I thought about selling it when my diff went out but I just don't think it would be worth it at this point in time. Good luck with the sale!

you should part it out to me and ill give you the stock parts for u to put back on, then you can sell it to more potential buyers and have a little cash to put on a new car!?!!(wink)
