How much should I ask for my 2003 Protege5?

Hi all, we're considering selling our 2003 Protege5 and we're trying to get a feel for what a fare selling price is. It is yellow with auto trans. The car drives fine with no mechanical issues. It has about 101,000 miles. Oil changed at every 5,000 miles by me. It did have two minor accidents and both times it was repaired by insurance approved auto body shops. It could use a new paint job but not too bad. Minor dent on the driver door. Overall I would say it's in average condition for a car of that age. We check on ebay and the prices were all over the place from $9K to around $4K. Quite a range and make it that much more confusing.

Thanks.

I just bought a 03' with 130k for 2.5k

It came with a dented rim (the spare was on), bent subframe (accident not reported on carfax), missing windshield nozzles, and the rear left door latch doesn't work. I got a great deal.

Condition was very clean and rust free (was in florida for the first 8 years)

I've been searching for a P5 or subaru impreza wagon for a while, the price for your car as long as everything is working nicely would be around 4k. I would advertise at 5k or just under it. With the economy now a days, everyone is looking for a reliable used car, and the P5 is just that. The magic number 90% of the people look for is under 5k. Just something to think about.

5700, you can always go down and for a nice driving reliable car why not try to get a lil more outta it

interior and exterior matter the most when making a sale for clean and clean and clean and shine

blue book

KBB is to benefit dealers, with artificially high prices that are unrealistic in the real world.

$5700 buys you a mint one with 75k to 100k miles
$4500 to $5000 buys you a really nice one with 100k miles

If you ask too much, 99% of your shoppers will be turned off. If the paint is bad enough to where you think it needs a paint job, I would say $3500 to $4000 is realistic. If it were me, I would ask $4900 and see what happens.

I use three sites for pricing, KBB, NADA and edmunds, then figure a price ranged between those 3 sites for "fair condition", as no used car is ever going to fall into the highest category unless it was parked, never driven and garaged its entire ownership.

I agree with AMC323 here, max Id ask is 49-- and hope for close to that.
Ive seen several P5's in the past couple of months down here in FL with about 100k going for anywhere between 2.5-3.5k on craigslist.

I purchased mine for 2.7k but the seller was convinced it was a problem child. I put around 100 into after purchase and its been great since then. I would say 4k to 5k is a fair price.
