okay guys and girls, i need your opinion. i have compiled a list of what i will need for the wiring of my system and need to know if you guys think it's too much money. i want to do it so that everything is from one brand. my choice is stinger. i dont plan on winning any competitions, but i do want a good sounding system. here's a list of what i have come up with.

1. Ring Terminals: SXR4 (4ga. 6.50 x 3) $19.50
SXR8 (8ga. 6.50 x 3) $19.50
2. Power Wire: SX41B/S (4ga. 1.50/ft x 25ft) $37.50
Power Wire: SX82B/S (8ga. .75/ft x 15ft) $11.25
3. Fuse Holder: SXAF $32.00
4. Distribution Block: SF2MDPT $23.00
5. Interconnects: SX20 (20' hopefully) $120.00
6. Fuses: Ebay item# 3077786251 $8.50
Ebay item# 3082247906 $9.50
7. Speaker Wire: waiting on pricing
8. Battery Terminals: waiting on pricing

so far this is about $280.00, with i'd say $350 being the end result. now is this too much

i got a wiring kit from an audio store with 4awg wire and all the terminals for $60. if youre paying 350 thats some expensive s***. it better look hella pretty.

KnuKonceptz.com...best wire for the price. AS good or better than Stinger and really, really, well priced. Go there.

keep in mind that this is a complete custom selection. i know i can buy a kit for wayyyyyyyyyy less. but i have selected certain colors for the wires, i went with a certain fuse holder, and distribution block. i picked out every piece to go with what i am going to push.

i will check that site out. thanks.

If you're putting that on a system that's a grand, then you're wasting your money. If you're going for some serious sweet sound, spend the cash. ... Seems reasonable to me if you're doing a high end system. My home interconnects 2x2m and 1x1m were almost $1000 (CDN) but they're on a decent system so it's worth it....

lets see..
when i did my car i used
I/O power wire
fuse holder next to battery x/ fuse
digital distribuition block w 2 fuses
4 ga power wire from the distro to the amps
4 ga ground wires
2 sets of rcas
positive + negative battery terminals
14 ga speaker wire
and i got it all for under $200 from knukonceptz.

Why do you need this many ring terminals? I would think one pair of 4 guage ring teminals will be all you need, 8 guage ring terminals seem totaly pointless.

Why 25' of 4 gauge, seems like a bit much.

What amps are you using and where are they going to be mounted.

I started to go through a comparison of each brands (Stinger vs. KnuKoncepts) to give you an idea of the price savings, but would probably be over $100 in savings. The quality would be about the same. The Stinger stuff is nice but a little overpriced for my tastes. Maybe they will sponsor you though if you build an show winning system. What are you going to be running?

www.knukonceptz.com

If you e-mail Bill (the owner) and tell him you were referred by a member of contour.org he should give you a discount.

Copper is copper is copper. There's no need to spend extra unless you're after aesthetics or that mad rush that audiophiles get by spending ridiculous amounts of money on componentry.

Wire is wire dude.

You are paying for the looks/name. Kinda like JL (silly)
Put 4 gauge Monster cable next to 4 gauge anything else. You'll see a clear difference

lightning audio has very good wiring and it's pretty cheap... the rest of their products are pretty much half assed though...

Bingo! I got my kit from Crutchfield and spent $69 for a 4 gauge wire kit and later ordered from knukonceptz and not only are they cheaper, but they are higher quality wire as well. Oh and customer service was great as it was shipped to my door really fast! Faster than Crutchfield and way faster than F---ing Sounddomain!

this is coming from a stinger fan. ive been using it for 10 years now. unless your going to enter competitons or car shows where the wire is highly visable. find something cheaper. for the most part wire is wire. your paying for the colors and the design and shapes of the fuse holders etc. now a say wire is wire, that doesnt mean you 2$ wallmart cable will be on par with your stinger, but basically i'd be blown away if someone could actually hear a diffrence in stinger power cable over monster power cable. etc.

i have an opinion like everyone else :) from what i have read so far seems to be on track -- you cant say wire is wire because there are too many different types out there -- but what the others have said about the 2 brands posted between those 2 you can say wire is wire because they are on an equal level in quality -- the only thing that I will strongly suggest is DONT go cheap on your RCA connections -- they are ( in my opinion ) worth the extra $$$ to make sure you dont get any outside noise like engine or altenator sounds --

Most decent kits that come with RCA wires will work though. I have some expensive cables only because they are left overs from my home stereo. Otherwise, I have a 20ft one that came with the 4 gauge kit.

Is that Monster and KnuKonceptz?

I also agree that There are bettery quality RCAs. You might not notice too much sound difference, but their noise rejection abilities will differ.

well peeps so far everything i have read is telling me that wire is wire, but dont be stupid in thinking $2 wire will do. so i can now say that i will mos def. look into something diff. i will be looking into knukon and once i get back to the states ( i'm in iraq with the army) sometime late this month i will make my final choices. thank you all for pointing it out to me. it does sound hella stupid looking at + $300 for wiring. once i get the system installed i will update with pics.

hey man

i know some MSP'ers that do installs at circuit city in town.

they will hook you up. get in touch with me when you get back.
