Regarding water leaks I got rid of my Seat Leon (Mark 1) after 2 years having bought from new. I suffered from drenched carpets after six months of ownership and in the middle of winter unfortunately. After 6 visits to the dealer they finally fixed it. All door seals replaced - still leaked. Resealed pollen filter housing - leaked even more with a steady stream of water coming from behind the dash glovebox area on to the floor. (Bear in mind the CD autochanger was in the glovebox) I had a container placed there which I emptied after every journey and had to drive around with the windows down and the heater on full blast to stop misting up in the middle of winter.
Eventually the dealer found that there was a gap between an air con pipe and the seal where it went through the bulkhead so the water was running down the pipe and into the car when it rained. They took up the carpets and dried everything out with a heater. Roll forwards another year and one day when driving along ALL the warning lights lit up on the dash along with multiple warning beeps and the speedo and rev counter went haywire . Back to the dealer again and they diagnosed a corroded connector behind the dash. I wonder how that happened?(whistle). The error code print out from the on board computer had generated 5 pages of A4 paper. They replaced the wiring loom and all appeared ok until a few months later the airbag warning light came on. I'd had enough and didn't trust it anymore so traded it in for a Mazda 6 (Therein lies yet another tale of woe if anyone is interested)
I can understand why someone would want to get rid of their car after suffering leaks.
Thank you - I rest my case.
