How is everyone's fuel economy so far?

Filled up this morning, after my commute, averaged 34 MPG, about 70% highway, some traffic in the morning, heavy rain on the way back.

Seems like 27 is my top number with the 2.0 engine. I find it difficult to accelerate slowly though, the car begs to be "driven"

With good (newer) tires, you should not ever hydroplane at legal speeds or even higher.

Only one run so far - Pretty much all cruising at 70 MPH for 300 miles, yielded 37.0 MPG for the 2.5L. Exactly equal to the EPA estimate!

holy motherfather. now that's the kind of fuel economy I was hoping for.
I was getting a little disappointed hearing some of the 2.5 guys pull out figues in the mid-20s. That's what my GTI is doing now and I'm hoping for better with an eventual 2.5 manual.
My first fill-up that I was able to calculate was 28.8 mpg, but that was during the break-in and I was constantly making the car downshift to vary the engine speed. My first real fill-up with maybe 60% expressway with cruise control set to between 67 and 70mph was 32.4 as reported by the car and 32.1 as calculated by me. So far on my drive to work after filling up at a gas station right off of the expressway, the car was reading 37.6mpg when I pulled into work. It looks like this car is going to end up with pretty much the same average that my 2012 Focus had: between 33 and 34mpg with 70 to 80% highway miles.

My commute is about 15 miles (50% highway + morning slowdown).
My house sits at ~300 ft higher elevation.
Coming to work, I can get near 38mpg in my sGT.
Going back home, I can get 33mpg => average about 35mpg on regular days. On a smooth day, I can get 37mpg.
It is still in break-in period. After that, I will drive it harder, and the MPG might get better out of break-in.
Future MPG will changes from these two factors.
