How do you guys find AutoX events and how do you enter them? Do you have to have (or not have) certain things on your cars? Is there somewhere to look for this kinda stuff? I havn't gotten into it because i am completely lost as to where to find this stuff?

any little bit helps, thanks :D

Need:
1) yourself
2) to find a local event
3) ask before the event if you can borrow someone's helmet (or just go buy your own...Most need snell95 or better. M2000 is what most new helmets are
4) Half a tank of gas or a little more should be good.
5) To have fun when you're there...that's all.

My friend that got me into it taught me a saying that her and her father use: "Go fast or go backwards" And when you do go backwards...you'll be laughing like a schoolgirl...because it's the best feeling to be free of worrying you'll hit something (barring light-posts in the lot). It teachs you how to drive your car...more so that anything else I've ever done. Simply great. Chances are, since you're a novice they'll send out instructors with you on at least your first run, but maybe even all day. They'll be able to give you some tips. But, like I said...the most important is to have fun!

Check out these 2 sites. They have all the basic information you need. Car set up, tire pressure, what to bring, how to prepare, etc. Go to www.scca.org and find your local auto-x/solo2 chapter. Since you are from cupertino there are i believe 4 chapters, but i believe you need to be an SCCA member to participate. Good luck and hope all goes well.

Also Check with like autoparts stores for sports car clubs that auto X but don't have the events on SCCA web site. I cut my teeth Autocrossing in Rapid City, SD. with the Black Hills Sports car club they used all SCCA rules but wasn't a member club.

where would i find info on SCCA events or the like in GA or other surrounding states....thanx

I semi recently went to my first autox (nov 9). All you have to do is show up. Preregister if you can, but most places will let you drive even if you aren't preregged. Just be ready to learn stuff, ask questions, and have fun. It's really fun. The hardest part is just going out and doing it. There are a lot of great people on here who've helped me out, so if you need any advice just post and I'm sure the autox fiends will guide you.

Oh, and most places have loaner helmets, so you most likely don't need your own.

Before you show up, go through your whole car, and check it from bumper to bumper.... Check for leaks, make sure everything under the hood is secure (battery for instance)... Check the wheel bearings for play... Make sure the car is completely empty... And have fun!!!!
