how about some dealer rating?

Hi guys..

I 'almost" decided to get a 2003 white 5spd P5 as my first new car ...
but seems to me there are couple questions about the car and the dealership as well.

About the car, tranny problem is the major factor that makes me "hesitate"....:( Coz someone blew 2 trannies within 20k miles...The other issue is the dealership, because it's the only place we could get our cars repaired under warranties.

so I hope people here could list where you live, which dealer you bring your car in for service/paint job/repair, and how you rate it in price/service/knowledge...?

I saw the same thing at clublexus.com before..I believe people on that site forward those message to lexus headquarter for their ref..maybe we can do the same thing...

Thanks

Jason
-Will I buy a P5?

Jarman Mazda... great price.... some nice people... very dumb mechanics (ones that did installation on me anyway).

Overall.... 6/10

(btw.. Edmonton Alberta)

Tell me...whats the ratio of blown p5 trannies to non-blown p5 trannies?

Those who have blown trannies...get together...make some calls...call Mazda NA...make some noise.

I wouldn't worry about it pickupjason...buy the p5...have fun...enjoy it. Worry about the dealers!

Good Luck to those with tranny problems.

Jason> Where are you located? There's a good chance that someone on this site may have experience with a dealer in your area.

I think a P5 is a great choice; it's very well put together. I haven't had any tranny problems either; don't plan on it. I've got about 5000 on mine.

I bought my car from Key Mazda in Moline, IL. The service and sales and the negotiation were all top notch. Never once was I "pushed" by the staff. I can also say with complete faith that I could go back in there today and they would know me by name, five months hence.

Since that dealer is 200 miles away, I go to Rosen Mazda in Gurnee, IL for my service. The sales staff from my experience seems just shy of typical for this area (Chicago suburbs). When I say typical I say gum-chewing greaseballs that make you feel like you're gonna get screwed into a contract. The service staff however is unquestionably the best in the business. A plaque in the lobby shows that they have been Mazda's highest rated dealer in the world for the last three years. They're supposedly the best on feedback and letters / surveys received.

By the way, anyone who was reading the Mazdaspeed forums will know Rosen Mazda as the infamous ALL CAPS POSTER "Mazdaspeedsales" that was hawking MSPs without authorization. Small frikkin world. :)

thanks guys...

I am here in Southern California....the nearest dealer should be the one in Cerritos...

I like this car..I mean with the money it's really the top choice...But I just don't like the "potential" problems it "may" have...:p

Best

Any car you can buy has "potential" problems my friend. They're are way more PROS than cons about this car and, personnaly, the only real problems I've had came from the dealer's mechanics when they installed things like the luggage compartment net, the antitheft device and the bracket to hold the driver's carpet (they didn't know what it was...duh!...).

I use to own Civics (for 12 years) and I've NEVER been happier with a car than with the P5. Look around, do some reading, and you'll see.

Have fun.

Heritage Mazda in Huntington Beach

I am also in SoCal (Long Beach) and I *REFUSE* to go to Browning Mazda or the Cerritos Auto Square. I've had several bad experiences with Cerritos Auto Square dealerships.

I picked up my first new car...2002.5 white P5 from Heritage/Beach Mazda in Huntington Beach.

The salesman was Denny Crimmins. EXCELLENT service. He found the car I wanted and delivered as promised.

I highly recommend going to him.

here is his contact info:

Tell him that Gerard Garcia from Long Beach (2002.5 white Protege5) referred you to him.

:)

However, I must say that Browning Mazda has a lot of P5's in stock...I was there this weekend to pick up some oil filters.

good luck.

thanks... buddies

I think I will make my mind very very soon then get the car after the money thing is ok..

btw, Gerad, sounds to me you got a great deal....right? I will contact the sales you mentioned before I go into the dealer...

thanks..
